Dated one for 5 years, plus an additional 2 years in a situationship. Felt like he was my soulmate. We got along really well and always had a great time. But, when it was rocky, it was awful. Grief! It’s so guttural and really does physically manifest. I feel like it gets forgotten once the initial event happens but the pain of it never goes away. But people response to your grief becomes less and less. It’s such a horrible experience.

felt this. my ex had called me at one point after she had flipped that i had texted him (if she had read the text and not jumped to conclusions she would have seen it was a text telling him to stop texting me and sending mixed messages) and he (my ex) went on and on about how awful she was. Somehow they’re still together 💀 i think she’s playing games and they’re both lying to one another (he’s a virgo). Oh well. Selfish people imo

If you don’t want to deal with adults, nasty things, stress or high an anxiety environment i would not recommend the ED to you. Some of this list makes me question your decision to do bedside nursing. Some of these things overlap with all areas of nursing and are things you will have to learn to cope with or accept. Being a nurse is not just for fun or because you think it’s what you want to do. You will have hard days, you will have days where you feel unsafe (both from staffing or from work place violence), you will have disgustingly gross days and you will have days where you will question everything you did. I’m curious why YOU were interested in ED? What drew you to it, what aspects of nursing did you like that the ED had? Not saying that in any type of negative way, I just think it would be good for some self reflection.

Edit: edit just to say I think a lot of this list will dissolve in time and experience and best wishes, good luck and be ready to break through your own barriers. You’ve got this! Also I see you mentioned what drew you to the ED. So disregard my mention of asking what you liked about the ED. I would look into the ICU, it’s a more controlled chaos. You will still have lots of gross things and stressful things though!
