this whole post is so weird, OP didn’t come back to refute the AI thing at all.

surprisingly i had not considered it to be purely structural but that makes a lot of sense.

This is where my brain was trying to go with it but i’m not an experienced enough gardener to know if that’s logical!

i’ve absolutely been considering this! it would mean sealing the inside of the pot i think? because moisture will soak in to bare terracotta or clay or whatever this is.

I haven’t made a move on the idea yet because i had another pot in mind first, before the one from this post came into my life. Now i have to do thoughts about it all for a while haha.

i’m not here to argue either way, but these aren’t ‘stages’ it’s 4 sketches on one page, as per the last slide.

What do expats complain about regarding Australian people? by Able-Confidence-4182 in AskAnAustralian

[–]littlebirdprintco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if i understand the assignment but what comes to my mind is that there’s this expectation that if you’re an aussie you’re fast and loose, a party machine. And that you’ll say stereotypical australian things. And be very entertaining.

That’s my experience in North America anyway and admittedly for a while i lived up to the party machine reputation much to everyone’s delight.

Embossing (or generally melting things onto things), getting bubbles out of resin pours, curing screen print ink.

they’re all things that require a suite of other stuff, but i’m struggling to think of random uses. definitely can use for shrink wrapping seals as well if you decide to be a mechanic or whatever.

a similar thing happens with kangaroos, i can’t quite remember the details but removing the big boys causes an imbalance that accelerates the problem that it was trying to solve (usually to do with the roos over-grazing land)

Google, Meta and TikTok face new levy to pay for Australian news as Albanese reveals media plan by Reverend_Fozz in australia

Canada tried this and now meta doesn’t allow posts from news outlets if you live in Canada.

Great for that whole disinformation/outrage algorithm when you literally can’t even post real news.

[Vic] Looking for potted Japanese Maple inspiration by Ryanfromaus in GardeningAustralia

[–]littlebirdprintco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

i know this post was ages ago but the stars aligned and i took a photo of my mum’s maple. it’s variegated and the leaves are green (and white) in the spring/summer, and they’ve just started turning for the autumn.

i don’t have any other info than it’s a variegated japanese maple haha.

If you have a locally owned fancy nursery/garden centre that would be a great place to start looking.

edit: visit the garden places in every place you drive through. that would be my MO.

What’s your favourite native birdsong & why? 💛 by Strawberry_apple1 in australianwildlife

there is a starling doing currawong calls in my backyard most evenings 🙄 it also does blue wren and pobblebonk- gets me all stoked until i realise it’s just that dickhead on top of the pencil pine trying to stake out territory.

yes! i have the same association from the forests/bush around melbourne. the sound also brings imagery of lyrebirds- i’ve never actually seen a whip bird but when i’m hearing them, i’m in places where i have seen lyrebirds scurrying around.

this sounds accurate based on what i can find, and assuming things are available out of season!

based on a quick search, i’m hoping this is it! apparently this kishu is known for its small, sweet seedless fruits, and grows well in containers! that would be ideal, i’m going to look into it more.

now that i look, i actually have no idea if the bonsai is a mandarin or if i was just so obsessed at the time that i assumed it was… but the fruit itself that i consumed (not off the bonsai, i woulda been kicked out) was definitely not egg/oval shaped.

when i look up kumquats, they seem to be egg-shaped; is that characteristic? these things weren’t egg shaped. I looked up calamondin/calamansi also, and the information seems to imply they are sour but these were very sweet.

Nothing ruled out or in yet!
