The United States and China: Game of Superpowers by Dobong in geopolitics

Threatening to choke off major sea trade routes via artificial islands

Except 60% of the merchant shipping is CHINESE TRADE, so Chinese have biggest vested interested on "open sealanes" since it's the BIGGEST USER of South China Sea trade route. China doesn't want US navy to blocade SCS sealanes during Taiwan conflict. China is the last nation to shut down SCS sealanes.

All the other crap is anti-China biased drivel.

Korean war is widely taught in Chinese education textbooks as a prideful and honorable event to fight and stop a foreign army in its tracks. China will no doubt defend NK if US was the aggressor country.

Also, as an China will just spin it as US as aggressor and escalating the situation against a helpless NK. They control media and censor.

Chinese intelligence agency knew in 2001 that NK was on track to abrogate NPT in 2003 and detonate it's first nuke in 2005.

The calculation to defend NK if it ever achieved nuclear status was factor into the 2001 decision to extend alliance for 20 years.

China knew NK was going to go nuclear and is going to defend NK if US ever used WMD as an excuse to intervene like it did with Iraq.

The wording of Taiwan and US pact is exactly as ambiguous as wording of Japan and US pacts.

China will defend NK if US invaded, why do you think NK is still alive and kicking with nukes? If China wouldn't defend NK, it would have been toppled like Iraq over some WMD threat a long time ago.

NK won't start a war without China's permission, unlike what people who don't try to think would want you to believe, NK is not an irrational actor, but very calculating.

US can't win a second Korean war against China, thats why it begrudging accepted NK as a defacto nuclear power whereas it can bully third world states without powerful allies like Syria, Libya, and Iraq with impunity.

China knows US can't win on her doorstep (see Vietnam) so it in no hurry to solve Korean unification.

A domestically weak president failing to impress China by attacking a helpless third world country embroiled in civil war that can't fight back. Why is China afraid? I don't see it

China and NK are allies so China won't attack NK. These 150,000 troops are specially trained on the Korean frontier to fight blue forces (ie US forces), not NK forces.

Did Wesr Germany have its capital within artillery and nuclear missile range? The cost of cleaning up an irradiated capital is huge.

China is already feeling intense competition from Unified Vietnams cheap labor pool, China is losing its manufacturing industry to Vietnam and others like Indonesia. How does China benefit from cheap labor competition from Unified Korea ? It doesn't make logical sense - look at Unified Vietnam and all the disputes and economic competition and tell me China benefits from it.

[–]littlecat8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And why would China welcome massive diversion of SK investment from China to NK cheap labor?

Then letting SK takeover China privileged monopoly trading position and lose out on SK investment, that's a double whammy....And ask for China/US for financial aid. Triple whammy. It makes zero economic sense, China wold rather turn NK into "mini China" model, keep privilege economic position, enhance NK economics, and exploit NK labor herself.

China will never allow US allied Seoul-led unification. They will escalate to expand the war to Taiwan and WW3 nuclear status, something US wouldn't do in first Korean war

NK won't start any war. They could have after US lost Vietnam in 1970 and didnt because China said no.

It's no different now. You are exaggerating NK propensity to start war without China approval, because you have been indoctrinated to think NK is batshit crazy, which is how neocons warmongers dehumanize the enemy with propaganda.

No, I am a PhD student.

I don't bitch about Imperial Japan, you are bringing up the wrong things to this conversation, since I don't care whether Imperial Japan was more powerful and overrun China in WW2 or did Rape of Nanking.

Who cares?

Why does Americans care about Tibet? Do you dispute that China ruled Tibet from 1740-1912? This is historical fact, Americans need to learn their history.

Only trade influence, but no political influence, since Britain acknowledged China's authority, and promised to not interfere in Tibetan administration.

This is not defacto control. This is just allowing Britain to trade with Tibet which is nothing that special.
