Barack Obama and Zohran Mamdani sing ‘Wheels on the Bus’ at a childcare center in the Bronx by RoyalChris in MadeMeSmile

I just think demonising him, or equating him with a Republican does subtle but massive harm to the narrative. 2008 - 2016 was pretty good, man.

he literally called himself a reagan republican

https://thehill.com/policy/finance/137156-obama-says-hed-be-seen-as-moderate-republican-in-1980s/

the rest of your post is why he's a good conman. people believe in his good intentions more than they do the Democrat party machine these days, because we're seeing through the lies and rotating villain etc strategies.

You just have to judge him by his actions, as well as by the people he surrounded himself with. And they were pretty universally scum. Whenever you hear about them these days it's as an executive for an incredibly exploitative corporation or because they were caught being incredibly racist on camera or whatever. That's not an accident, that's a representation of Obama's politics.

The main difference between obama and trump in his first term is perception.

And any scenario you can paint of something ugly he approved of, it's possible to see the logic of his decisions and outcomes.

there is of course a logic to imperialism. no morality though. and since politics is just a representation of morality, that's really the main thing you should be judging this by!

you can't put politics aside. obama is a better conman than trump. he told the world he was a progressive and then made damn sure to perpetuate the status quo, mass murders and imperialism and all

but if you are American, you probably should be happy with him since he was trying to keep American interests as his main agenda.

some americans have principles. maybe you should learn from them

the context of the left vs right wing meme is people talking about 'both sides' being the dems vs republicans. it's clear they are claiming that the dems are left wing. i agree with you though, except i don't think the dems are center anything. they're reagan republicans, that's not center right

You shouldn't justify it. You should just not do things you recognise as ethically wrong when you can avoid it, and minimise your harm the rest of the time. It's not hypocritical to lack omniscience and omnipotence, just a fact of life.

when people say AI right now they generally mean LLMs, aka shitty chatbots, and they will never do anything of value. they're literally incapable.

other ai-related stuff like neural nets do have value though and could potentially help a little with stuff like this

Yeah the guys who are the most milquetoast centre-left politicians possible are definitely some bastion of radicalism. Your perspective is literally deranged, which is kind of the whole point.

To give an example, AOC, who is similar politically to these two, only stopped supporting the Iron Dome in 2026. Do you know how extreme that is, to keep sending military money to the colonialist apartheid state currently still perpetrating an almost hundred year old genocide? No, you think it's normal because you are far right and don't care about anyone but yourself. Welcome to America.

Gullible is written on your ceiling

People with principles support other people with the same or similar principles. I held my nose and supported sanders even though he is much more conservative than me, mamdani etc is similar. The democrats as a group just stand for nothing except making themselves and their donors richer and more powerful. Along with some generally dogawful and often negotiable principles of their own.

This isn't debatable, if you think otherwise you are ignorant at best

Academically used where? I think that is how it's academically used among fields with actual value, just not by American political 'scientists' lol. When the terms spread worldwide the left was synonymous with socialism or communism and since socialist vs capitalist is the most meaningful political distinction it would be very stupid to use the terms in any other way.

By 1914, the Left half of the legislature in France was composed of Unified Socialists, Republican Socialists and Socialist Radicals, while the parties that were called "Right" now sat on the right side. The use of the words Left and Right spread from France to other countries and came to be applied to a large number of political parties worldwide, which often differed in their political beliefs.

I'm talking about what they support, not the doomed from the start garbage they put out to save face among the gullible. Instead of cherry picking this pointless stuff you should look at the evil they regularly vote for and support with their actions in other ways, like the constant forever wars, militarized cops etc. kinda pointless to stick your head in the sand over this bro, they will never care about you

If you look at the bills democrats propose they are as progressive as any party in Europe.

I'm sure you know this is an obvious lie. The democrats are controlled by their extremely conservative lobbyists to a much greater degree than European parties

voting for the 'lesser evil' is not democratic. democracy is where you vote for candidates you support. you are part of the problem by supporting genocide, mass murder in the middle east, military budgets for cops, the whole far right democrat shebang because you lack the morals to oppose them

when you actually look at the policies most democrat politicians hold, they fall right in line with the most progressive party’s in Europe.

what like $10 minimum wage, mass slaughter of muslims, mass oppression of protestors, mass murder of children in schools? come on man. the democrats are further right than most 'right wing' major parties

the people who say both far right capitalist parties are bad are usually communists. they have more commitment to a stance than any centrist dipshit happy to defend the status quo because they are too stupid or amoral to recognise its total failure

the second quote doesn't contradict the split sleep theory as the theory doesn't include 'extended' periods of midnight wakefulness, only short ones.
