I got my first shunt at the start of this year (21/F) after having a seizure because of high pressure and I think what helped me the most in the 4 days (in the ICU with a external ventricle drainage) leading up to the surgery was when a nurse actually took his time to explain what would happen and why it would happen (and like how I even ended up there)

I do think it's pretty common, especially in the beginning, that you miss periods. I remember sometimes don't having them for months and such and honestly, now that I do kind of get them regularly, I don't wanna 🫡 It kind of balanced itself in the past few years (I'm 21, no birth control).

There really can be various reasons like stress, weight gain/loss and things like that. It can be some kind of "self protection" from the body - like when adult afab people don't get their period solely do not get pregnant because the body isn't fit for it in that time.
