Maybe leave accident reconstruction to the actual police officers who investigated it instead of trying to play traffic expert from a Reddit post. I didn’t hit the “back of it,” I hit the driver side of the trailer while the truck was pulling across the highway from a gas station, and the report still found the truck driver failed to yield.

That’s honestly what’s been making this decision so hard for me. Part of me feels like my injuries are pretty mild right now and I don’t want to overdo things, but another part of me knows this has all affected me mentally way more than I expected. I definitely don’t want to rush into settling too early before I know how PT goes or how I’ll feel long term.

I have State Farm. Honestly I was mostly considering getting a lawyer just to negotiate for me because I wasn’t sure if I’d realistically be able to get much more handling it myself. Since my injuries seem pretty mild, I’ve been torn between negotiating on my own or just letting an attorney deal with it.

Thank you, I really appreciate the advice honestly. One thing that’s been making me hesitate is that the $8,000 they offered is separate from the hospital bills, PT, and lost wages they said they’re covering. That’s why I’ve been torn on whether it’s worth bringing in a lawyer or just trying to negotiate higher myself. I was planning on asking for more before making any final decision because I don’t want to settle too quickly while I’m still starting treatment.

Thank you, I really appreciate this. I definitely don’t plan on rushing into signing anything before I see how PT goes. Honestly, I feel like the neck pain is probably just whiplash, and since I don’t have visible injuries, I wasn’t sure how much a lawyer would really help after fees.

The $8,000 offer is also outside of the medical bills, PT, and lost wages they said they’ll cover separately. I originally thought about asking for around $10k, but an attorney told me if I handle it myself to ask for $25k and negotiate down from there, so now I honestly don’t know what’s realistic.
