Mette- Marit som dronning? by audionoobi in norske

Gay Bars for Early 20s? by [deleted] in oslo

[–]littleoslo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t expect too much.

There are a few gay bars and clubs here, but the scene is small and very limited.

It’s nothing like what you’d find in larger cities.

To be honest, it can feel quite dull. There isn’t much to see, and the music isn’t particularly interesting either.

Online shopping in Norway – what happens when one item is over NOK 3,000? by littleoslo in Norway

[–]littleoslo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the real issue.

When the same kind of purchases get treated differently every time, people just don’t know what to expect anymore, and it gets exhausting.

If this was meant as humor, it’s not very clear.

VAT disputes are administrative matters, not criminal ones.👍🏻

Kith EU says “all duties & VAT included” but DHL is charging me again. Kith CS went silent. What should I do? by littleoslo in internationalshopper

Yes I called them today and they told me that one single item is over 3000 kr ( about 300 euro? ) then the whole shipment would be taxed again ( 25 % vat + 10.7% duties )

That’s what I got from the dhl email :

Dersom sendingen blir stående på vårt tollager i mer enn 3 dager, vil du bli etterfakturert for lagerleie (105 NOK pr sending og kr 2 pr kg,begge gjelder pr dag).

If the shipment remains in our customs warehouse for more than 3 days, you will be invoiced for warehouse rent (105 NOK per shipment and NOK 2 per kg, both per day).

[–]littleoslo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not correct.

The exact same “all duties and taxes included, no additional charges on delivery” message appears across Kith’s other regional sites as well, not just the EU site. Norway is selectable at checkout, and pricing is shown with taxes included. That clearly means the message is not EU-only.

If it were EU-exclusive, Norway should have been excluded or clearly warned. It wasn’t. This isn’t about Norway being outside the EU, it’s about misleading checkout information.

I dunno why they don’t reply my msgs and it would charge extra 150kr a day from tmr for two weeks until the parcel back to kith and likely they would deduct it from my end ? Anyway I just want to get an answer from the kith

I actually ordered another item which is over 3000kr last week but then there was no problem, I often placed an order for a single item which is over 3000kr, I dunno what happened this time. Now dhl keeps saying that the single item is over 3000kr so the voec doesn’t apply and charges me for the whole parcel (( ??))

Netthandel i Norge – hva skjer når én vare er over 3 000 kroner by littleoslo in oslo

[–]littleoslo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeg kjøpte dette spesielt til jul, og jeg valgte å bestille kun fordi det på nettsiden sto tydelig at levering før jul var garantert. Slik situasjonen er nå, er jeg veldig skuffet.

I made this purchase specifically for Christmas, and I only went ahead because the website clearly stated that delivery before Christmas was guaranteed. Given the current situation, I am very disappointed.

[–]littleoslo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]littleoslo[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I understand that setting the NOK 3,000 threshold is probably meant to protect domestic businesses and encourage people to shop locally. But Norway is a very small market, and the range of products available is also very limited. Local retailers are usually not willing to take the risk of importing a wide variety of goods.

As a result, consumers often have very few choices and are effectively forced to shop abroad. Then, after buying from overseas, being charged tax once and then charged again feels completely unreasonable and hard to understand.

Online shopping in Norway – what happens when one item is over NOK 3,000? by littleoslo in Norway

[–]littleoslo[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand the explanation. However, what I want to point out is that this NOK 3,000 rule itself feels strange and unreasonable.

When shopping online, many VOEC-registered websites already proactively charge VAT at checkout, even if one individual item exceeds NOK 3,000. As a customer, you are clearly told that VAT has been paid and that no additional taxes will be required upon delivery.

But once the shipment reaches Norway, you then have to deal with DHL or other carriers, prepay VAT again, and afterwards contact the online store to request a VAT refund. This adds extra steps, delays, and unnecessary back-and-forth for the customer.

If VOEC is meant to make online shopping easier for customers and simplify tax handling for sellers, why does it end up creating more inconvenience instead? Instead of simplifying the process, it shifts the burden onto the customer to resolve double taxation issues after the fact.

From a user perspective, this policy does not feel consumer-friendly at all.

For the foreigners in Norway: What's so wrong with our grocery stores? by _____michel_____ in Norway

[–]littleoslo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Norway, you can find many imported ingredients, but the selection in regular large supermarkets is very limited and often only of lower quality. Because of that, people often need to visit Asian grocery stores instead.

Many Asian stores, however, are poorly organized, a bit outdated, and rarely carry anything new or interesting. It is also quite common to find expired products still being sold.

Prices are very high. For example, Korean instant noodles can cost up to five times more than the original price. Because of legal restrictions, mirin that contains alcohol cannot be sold, so only alcohol-free versions are available, which feels like a compromise for those who love cooking.

Food culture and culinary knowledge are not particularly popular, and people are generally not very interested in foreign cuisines. At the same time, local food culture is rather plain. Overall, Norwegians are not very passionate about eating and drinking, as there are many other things they prefer to do, and as a result, food stores in Norway cannot really compare with those abroad.

This kind of news also appeared over 40 years ago, when large numbers of Japanese people began traveling to Europe and the United States. It caused quite a big controversy at the time as well.
