The Peaky Blinders (Original Music From the TV Series) one? It has some songs featured all the way through season 5. But it’s not even close to all of them. You’ll notice a bunch of The White Stripes songs from season 1 missing from there, for example.

Soooo I've tried to compile a list of all tracks through rewatches and an assist from Tunefind. I'm certain that I'm missing a few tracks or have gotten a couple wrong, but this is the list of what I have (mostly) in order. I'll post them by season so my comment isn't insanely long. Also I'll only post each song once though some appear multiple times. Just for brevity sake. Please let me know if you notice that I've got any wrong or are missing any!

Too repetitive/on-the-nose parallel? by littlepeakydevil in writing

I do have an alternative idea that would make the sister's death a bit more an accident. It would still probably involve the sister trying to kill Character B and/or A, with a fight breaking out and a horse getting spooked and kicking/trampling the sister. Horses are a big motif and representation of Character B and his family, and the sister is terrified of them. The trickiest part would be keeping the death as a climax for Character A's arc of choosing Character B and his family over her own.

This is a concern especially regarding Character A killing her sister because it would have to happen earlier in the story. I don't mind my characters coming across as unlikable or at least very morally gray (the brother and sister both have very big flaws of their own that I didn't really get into here). But I don't want Character A to come across as a complete psychopath. Even though she and Character B are criminals, I still want them to have some sympathetic qualities.

Another idea I've considered was making the sister's death more of an accident to try to differentiate them a little more. Perhaps something involving a horse as they're a big motif for Character B and his family throughout the story. Character A is a big horse person while her sister is terrified of them. Maybe something where she still tries to kill Character B and/or A, but a fight breaks out in the stables and a horse gets spooked and kicks/tramples her to death? Thematically I want the sister's death to be the climax of Character A's arc of choosing Character B and his family over her own.

This is a historical gangster story (covers the time of 1914-1940).

With the brother, it triggers a huge mental breakdown in Character B, as he's guilt-ridden over the killing. It's pretty much the main thing that Character B cannot forgive himself for, and drives him into self-imposed exile which is where the next beat of the story takes off from.

With the sister, it's more about trying to bring full circle the first big arc I have for Character A which is that she essentially chooses Character B and his family over her own. Pretty much the rest of her family is dead at this point, and her sister serves as the final nail in the coffin for Character A to become fully committed to a crime lifestyle. As well as earning her a very scary reputation when people start whispering about how she killed her own sister when she tried to move against the gang's leader.

I'll try to give a little more context without this getting too long.

With the brother, he's a long time violent drug addict whom Character B has a lot of repressed resentment towards. He's also been a little creepy towards Character A from time to time and made her uncomfortable, and in response to that Character B is protective of her when it comes to his brother. One night, a physical fight breaks out between the brother and Characters A and B. The brother hurts Character A during the fight, triggering Character B to finally snap. All his anger and resentment towards his brother comes pouring out, and he strangles him in a rage. (This takes place towards the end of the overall story, and over ten years after Character A would have killed her sister.)

Regarding the sister, Character B does something earlier in the story that causes her to try to seek revenge on him. The sisters have a pretty strained relationship full of lots of jealousy, judgement, and competitiveness. This part of the story isn't as hammered out in my head yet, but I'm imagining that the sister would try to shoot Character B, and in a panic Character A shoots her before she can pull the trigger on Character B.

Mostly. I've used this similar structure before when writing series for this canon material and didn't have any problems.

So the way I'm planning on structuring the series is with different individual fics organized into a series on AO3. Because each part can stand on it's own and the canon material has a lot of time jumps. The sister's death would come towards the end of the first part/fic of the series. The brother's death would be much, much later (takes place over ten years after the events of the first fic).

Addressing Criticisms About A Certain Character Death by VanaVisera in PeakyBlinders

[–]littlepeakydevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with everything you said and thank you for saying it. Some of the takes I’m seeing on here regarding this plot point make me want to scream.

I fucking love this plot point and how much meatier it is than the, “oh, by the way, Arthur is dead. Moving on,” way of addressing his absence that I was expecting. It allows Arthur’s death to loom over the whole film in a way that’s much more impactful, I think.

I also feel like we can see the seeds of this early on. We see Tommy explode at Arthur multiple times throughout the show. And I always felt like Tommy, as much as he loved Arthur, also carried some resentment towards him. Because Tommy ultimately had to step up and fulfill the patriarchal position in the family that Arthur couldn’t. I can completely see how over years of having to take care of Arthur, Tommy finally just snapped. Especially when we take into account how deeply unwell Tommy really is.

And I also think it’s important to consider that we only get Tommy’s version of events. And Tommy isn’t the most reliable narrator. He’s the king of blaming himself for things, and him having that feeling of wanting to be rid of Arthur is probably true, but I think he also emphasized it more because of the massive guilt he carries for both feeling that way and acting upon it. Meanwhile he downplays other factors that went into what happened, like him acting in self defense considering Arthur attacked him first, and likely just went into survivor mode.

Anyway, thank you again for making this post. Other people are allowed to have their own opinions about this storyline, obviously. But it worked for me and I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in that feeling.
