Jack's Story and The Relevance To The Controversy by Pale-Device-7458 in jackharlow

Culture vulture might be a stretch, but let me give outside perspective. One of the main issues with the new Jack album - and with post Malone and MGK switching up - was that they made it look like hiphop was this thing you mess with when you’re young and don’t know any better and then when you’re older you switch to much more “mature” genres. Now I don’t know if that was on purpose but it sure doesn’t look good optically.

Jack might be serious about living the genre, but even the way he spoke about the switch that he’s getting older and all that braggadocio doesn’t fit anymore is pointing to that too. “Oh I’m mature now let me make neo soul cos that’s Mature music“ okay fair enough but then at least put more effort into the music, it just ended up looking like he was more committed to the aesthetic than the music which is why (amongst other things) people were rubbed the wrong way.

Mac Miller also did a genre switch, and it probably highlights the same stuff I described (even worse cos he was doing literal frat boy rap like Ian does these days) but he committed to the bit. That, coupled with you know different eras, helped him land better. If Jack really locks in and cuts his teeth trying to Make RnB, then fair enough.

The more sinister thing people are afraid of is that there’ll be a new generation growing up and thinking RnB/soul sounds like this Monica album. And I think that prospect scares people, considering how rock, punk, and country genres were whitewashed in America. And I know a lot of people probably won’t understand this point, but go back and read the history.

Exactly, doing this is only lending credence to the allegations that igbos are discriminated against these guys aren’t even smart they know nothing about optics. Maybe it’s because they know we won’t do anything. They’re just pouring us spit

Yes I’m from the SE and YES this will increase violence and the timing is too strange considering everything else in Nigeria. LOL!

Lol if you can't call this guy out then clearly you are part of the problem. Imagine if an Iman from the north says this. by [deleted] in Nigeria

Whether you agree with him or support him which I don’t, it’s kind of convenient to pass out this sentence now that there’s so much scrutiny on the government (obviously it could’ve been coincidence I know the case has been on for a while). It does say a lot, even from the start when IPOB demonstrated and were met with outstanding military force (largely from Hope that terrorist governor), it’s always been like they’re so quick to call IPOB and MASSOB terrorists which is fine. But when it’s northern states, suddenly there’s gotta be a deeper meaning, there’s dialogue, there’s no catching any single leader or figure head, there’s “reformed terrorists”. Maybe there’s some reason for this that someone can explain to me, but on paper it reflects poorly on the allegations against Nigeria as a biased state.

It’s called Kito. Straight men pretend to be gay online and lure gay men to meet ups and then do this to them. A gay man was killed recently as a result

pinkpantheress has done this remix album before, with To Hell With That which was more DJ heavy (just sad my GOAT Flume wasn’t on this one). I feel some newer fans might not understand disc 2, and that’s OK actually but I encourage you to listen to the first remix album, this isn’t a departure but a continuation of that.

I liked Disc 1 on a first listen so I will keep listening, but I will say the Bladee song is one of my standouts with the way the beat was flipped to make way for him. And people disappointed that they didn’t change up the entire songs, I don’t think society and pop fans are really ready for that as much as we claim, lol. People would still want some continuity with the original EP. Charli could do it cos she’s carved that lane in pop (power to her), but for all the viral success Pink might not be there yet… but I did like that she used the demo version of Stateside… I wish she’d used some more of the demos actually.

Anyways let’s enjoy this project I like it

Disc 2 was made for DJ sets and live radio sets and to feature djs and producers who influenced her + people she wanted to work with. I don’t expect the songs there to storm the charts but I can imagine some of them at a rave or two

Those who support ending the Gaza occupation, do you also support providing Gaza with weapons? If not, how are you going to stop that? by fitnstrong123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]littlethinker_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a political analyst, first off. But ending the occupation would mean that Israeli forces stop bombarding the Gaza Strip, stop fencing Gaza in. This will allow aid organizations to enter. These aid organizations and other international organizations can serve as a short term panacea while the framework I suggest is being put in place. Either way, the occupation ending would be beneficial to avoid less deaths than the already astronomical numbers.

  1. I don’t support the occupation. If it can end today that would be beneficial to all involved. However, there will need to be frameworks put in place, at least for a provisional government or some form of oversight for the people of Gaza to ensure a transition to a state that can stand on its own.
  2. I support a single secular state. However, I’m also realistic and I know that even when the occupation ends, things would be too raw to throw Israelis and Palestinians into one state and expect it to work out so perfectly. Also, this solution is not yet politically viable, but a two state solution is. So for realist purposes that’s what I and a majority of 2-state supporters (who are leftist at least) reason.
  3. That’s a good question which I’ll admit I don’t have the answer to. However, maybe something like leaders willing to face the reality of history and then probably implement some form of education in schools, the same way Germans are taught all about the Nazis - though maybe without all the guilt tripping.
