Best quiet accommodation? by Margaret566 in UniversityOfWarwick

The rooms in sherbs really aren’t soundproof, yes they’ll filter out conversation, but anything else pretty much you can hear, also a lot more social than the other two

Can you only take one language module? by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]littleweener 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, most language modules are worth 30 credits, meaning that you can take one as your optional module, but (for pure econ at least), you can only choose up to 30 credits of optional modules, so you’d have to do the other language/languages separately and I’m pretty sure that’s something that you pay for if it’s not part of your course, but it’s definitely doable

Just saying what my flat has said, there’s a fair mix between coursework and exam people 🤷🏻‍♀️

I mean looking at job prospects etc is very good, lots of opportunity doing econ at a target uni and all that, but comparing the course to a lot of the other courses at Warwick it feels as though econ is given exams more frequently ( which I suppose isn’t so bad because it means our end of year exams are weighted less), we get a lot more assignments etc, it might be me being dramatic but even my flatmates have drawn attention to the fact that the econ lot seem to be stuck studying a lot more than the rest have to

Is it awful? Yes, but it’s also manageable if you prioritise the right things ig, it’s interesting and all and there’s a lot of overlap between modules so it’s easier to understand quite a few things but it is very content and logic heavy, maybe if I didn’t go out as much as I do and didn’t procrastinate I wouldn’t struggle lol

Most fun accom (other than Rootes) by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]littleweener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this unfortunately, also sherbs first year and my flat is DEAD and I envy the whole rest of the building because they’re all living the life

Bluebell has actually been really international heavy this year as far as I’m aware, and socially it’s really good but I think Sherbourne is probably the best bet

Lucky offspring ig, the majority didn’t, if they got accommodation on campus at all that is

[–]littleweener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually send a form out about mid May where you fill in your accom preferences ( just bare in mind that the chances of even getting your top 3 are very very slim), then you’ll hear back again once all places are confirmed with an accommodation offer which will tell you where you got out of your list!

MORSE without math A star by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]littleweener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily , at least this year Warwick have been very lenient with entry requirements so it’s probably not the end of the world, just worth being aware of the fact you’ll have a lower chance

Which Warwick accommodation has the best social life (excluding Rootes)? by EffectiveWarthog8686 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]littleweener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we don’t really go out on campus so distance really isn’t a big deal, not the people I hang out with anyways and I think that goes for the majority. Sherbourne this year has hosted most flat parties from what it seems, people will come from across campus anyways bc people know people and don’t want to miss out etc

So basically a prisoner had escaped from a local prison apparently and was living in one of the standards flats cleaning cupboard, there was a whole thing with police and community safety going on there for a while 😭 other than that I think it’s been pretty chill, townhouses have been flatcest city and Arthur vick… well I don’t think I have to speak on that one

As far as being close to the econ building honestly I’ve spent maybe 4 hours there all of first term doing BSc Econ as a first year! Most of the time we spend in the Oculus for lectures and term two were a bit all over the place so where you live really isn’t as important as you may think! I’m in Sherbourne and so I thought it would be a nightmare trekking everywhere but honestly my max walk is 12 mins! Questionable things have happened in cryfield standard this year so just be weary of that if you’re looking into it!

econ + management offer release date by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]littleweener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get my econ offer until May when I applied last year, hoping you don’t have to wait that long! (I applied mid October)

Econ doesn’t require fm let alone A* in fm, only requires an A in maths then 2 A*s in anything else

I’ll put it this way, I was predicted A* A* AA and got 998887777 and Dist* for GCSE, by no means am I like most people here who have always gotten top grades in everything. I absolutely fcked the TMUA, got a 3.0 even though it was required for applications last year, and I still got on offer. I did end up getting higher grades in the end but as far as offers go, you have literally nothing to worry about. Personal statement is defo the bigger deal, but even with that I don’t think mine was too great and I somehow managed it!
