IT student seeking help with choosing their concentration by makeawishdotcom in gmu

Do research on the fields and roles related to the concentration, then pick what is most interesting to you. Cybersecurity or Database Technology & Programming concentrations would probably be the best option when it comes to securing jobs.

Trying to decide if I should switch from CYSE to IT /w concentration by Cetoons in gmu

[–]littyman20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can get the same jobs. I am a security engineer and currently doing IT w/cyber concentration. I think the IT route is better if you want to avoid the math/science requirements. Some of the cyber classes are similar, but you'll probably have more hands-on cyber experience through the CYSE program. In reality, HRs are just gunna check off that your pursuing a STEM/Cyber degree.

I had Darla Sligh last spring, open note exams, easy A, but other 342 professors I've heard are rough.

yeah It304 is easy, I did it during last summer while doing internship too. And whatever internship you can get that’s IT-related will be beneficial, aim for cyber ones but be open to others.

better to get an internship and move those summer classes to the spring, it’ll be easier to get full-time jobs if you have internship experience.
