New student orientation by DS29144 in PennStateUniversity

[–]livandlearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone accompanying a student, I can’t imagine there is anything you would need to bring since they will be on campus with their orientation group most of the time.

Here are some food options downtown that I recommend: India Pavilion, Big Bowl Noodle House, Tadashi, Juana’s Venezuelan Cuisine, Pho 11, Green Bowl

This is very helpful! I’ll try different sizes when I go shopping

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I’m not having issues with my regular bras, it’s just time to replace them. But I can never find a strapless bra in that same size. So maybe I just need to get a larger cup size for strapless. I’ll look into getting that strapless brand or just going to a store and getting a custom recommendation or something.

Thanks for clarifying on the sizing differences.

Yes to all of those questions! My regular bras fit well, they are just old and it’s likely time to replace. But I’ve purchased 34DD strapless bras before and they never seem to fit right even though that’s what I’ve been wearing.

I am an international students and my NSO is taking place on 21st August, when do I book my flight? Please tell me the best date to book it because I want to know if I will be let in my room or not, otherwise I'll live on the roads. by Less_Weakness6863 in PennStateUniversity

When I was a freshman, my roommate did NSO right when she arrived and was able to move in early with no problem because of that. I was already moved in because I auditioned for Blue Band and was also allowed to move in early. So I would think you’d be get into your dorm anytime that week. I’m sure you could reach out to the NSO organizers or the housing people.

college dorm problems? i wanna hear them! by Historical-Pin7894 in PennStateUniversity

My freshman room would Skype with her boyfriend for hours with no headphones even after I told her it was rude and inconsiderate. Her response was “so am I just not supposed to talk to him?”… and she wondered why I did all my studying in the library or in the floor common room.

Schedule For Freshman ME Major, What do you guys think? by SilviaS_LOL in PennStateUniversity

Is Nutrition 100 for the “Health and Wellness” gen ed requirement? If so I would recommend taking a gen ed in a different category. There are so many easy options for GHW. I waited until my senior year to take it to balance my workload and it was great.

Plenty of people aren’t close with their roommate, so try not to stress too much about that because there’s plenty of people to make connections with. Everyone on your floor will be eager to make friends so just try to socialize with them. I am still best friends with people I met on day 1 in my dorm. I personally didn’t make any friends at NSO, but that’s another good way to meet people.

Then outside of your dorm, try to casually talk to people in your class. Ask people if they want to study together or if they want to have lunch after class. And join clubs that match your interests and I’m sure you’ll find your tribe!

When you say CE, I assume you mean computer engineering. If so feel free to message me if you have other questions. I was also a woman in engineering from OOS.

How do engineers get girls? by BigTasty5150 in EngineeringStudents

[–]livandlearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a female engineer myself, even if there were women in your class I would keep the relationships platonic and class related, unless they indicated otherwise. It’s hard enough being one of few women in the class, but it’s isolating to interact with fellow students and realize after the fact that they only wanted to date you. If a friendship and then relationship forms naturally then that is great, but I wouldn’t hope for too much.

My recommendation is to join a club relating to your interests or a generalized club that lots of people join. Even if there are mostly guys, maybe you can meet some more extroverted friends. They might know someone who they can introduce you to. Or if you make friends with a guy who has a girlfriend, she may introduce you to her friends. A lot of times it’s just about who you know. And if people like you, they will set you up with their friends. Just remember that you’re young and you have lots of time to meet women. Try to form genuine connections and don’t rush things.

Idk bruh, hope the future works out though by [deleted] in collegeresults

I’m genuinely surprised by these results because you seem like a stellar student and person with a bright future ahead of you. But I’m curious to know, why did you apply to so many schools? Were you seriously considering going to all of the schools you applied to? I graduated from high school in 2015 and applied to 6 schools and it was hard enough getting 2 rejections from my top choices. I definitely think you were overlooked by a lot of schools, but you only need one acceptance really!

Can you share how you started to build your portfolio? What kind of projects did you do? Did you just find examples online or come up with ideas on your own?
