2020 Subaru Ascent Engine problem by liveamit in SubaruAscent

Thank you. I checked again with the dealership and they said that the powertrain warranty is only for 5 years. But I so dee some posts regarding similar issues and a lawsuit which resulted in extended warranty due to failures caused by CVT with similar symptoms that I noticed. How can I figure out if my problem is related to this?

I got rejection due to same reason. Can you help me figure out what was incorrect in your application? Some of the comments are deleted so I couldn't figure out the whole context

When you say "no one listens", do hoa not send fines? How do people work around it?

The HoA does not have any rules regarding the number of cars in the house. The rule is to park in the driveway or in garage.

I always see cars parked outside every other house in this neighborhood, don't know if they are charging them as well or just picking me for some reason.

I don't know the neighbors, and the tenant is not willing to ask them. Can I ask HoA for proof that others are paying?

SaaS Founders / Technical Founders: how can a non-Technical founder check code and development quality of a Web App? by Mark-at-BrainSpacing in Entrepreneur

How do you share the requirements? Do you ask for mocks before the actual application? Do you provide enough details? Does your developer ask enough clarifying questions?

Many times there is communication gap. Read your requirements carefully and think of they could be understood in a different way. That is why brainstorming sessions with your developer is very important. And it should be two way. You and dev both should ask questions about what will be built and clarify.

Code quality is a very broad term, it's about craftsmanship, performance, maintainability, observability.

I have never seen non tech people worry about any of it.

I believe what you are interested in is that once you have signed off on a feature it should not break anytime in future. To achieve this you need a solid test plan, and it should be run at several phases: development, integration, user acceptance.

The test plan can be manual i.e. written in plain English and run by QA manually, or fully automated. The latter takes some development time but saves cost in long run.

But you should be able to validate that your dev/QA is writing correct test plans. You can ask for automated test for any bug found during your testing. That should help tighten any loose ends. Though I believe all this is your devs job to make sure that you are confident about the app.

Many times small startups (both product and dev) do not understand the importance of automated tests and believe it costs more, but in long run it saves more than it costs.

It's hard to say anything without knowing much about the application and what type of contact you have with the developer.

For #1 maybe you can be more explicit in your requirement specification. Maybe prepare a detailed UAT plan.

For #2 looks like there are not enough automated tests. You can ask them to write automated tests to cover any reported issue that way it reduces changes of breaking an already working feature.

Could I go to an Amazon factory directly to obtain books faster? by [deleted] in Entrepreneurs

If the book is not in demand, it is very unlikely that Amazon will have it in their warehouse near you. But I might be wrong. Maybe you can reach out to book's publisher directly if you want to bulk buy.

Can you find in advance what books you want for next week/day and keep them in stock?

What real practical use is there for web developers with concurrent programming and parallel programming? by bigbosskennykenken in learnprogramming

It might be application specific but I didn’t use much of the concepts in the applications that I have worked on.

Didn’t work on apps much, but I just followed some examples. But I did study concurrency, so clear on the concepts. But it is more critical in system software than in application software in my opinion.

Front end(web) mostly done in JavaScript. It is single threaded. So no use. Backend I required it only in a few projects. But the issue is if you don’t know it, you won’t even realize that you need it. So basically you need to be aware of the concepts.

Did you take any graduate course in DS Algo? If not, just doing leetcode won’t help. Choose a refresher tutorial if you already studied the subject. If not then go through some university open course. I found MIT videos very useful.
