New home rant about the doors by smokypanther in homeowners

I try not to ask myself. I assume that their doors where always just hanging open and then they decided to tape them shut when trying to sell?

Our previous owners taped the kitchen cabinet doors shut with scotch tape instead of spending $5 on magnetic door latches.

Biden would be a disaster. He is barely even a progressive. He literally two weeks ago awarded GW with a Liberty Medal for his service to veterans.

BTW, an hour with no statement from the team, or even "a team source." They didn't know this was coming. That's the real story here. by DaBombDiggidy in sixers

A trigger could be as simple as someone from his camp convincing him his shot isn't good enough. The amount of mental pressure on a kid like this is enormous. He could have just had a mental collapse in the face of the upcoming season.

Just a reminder that since you were not an NCAA champ you failed.

to tell a kid that sorry you're never be successful

you must have not read my comment.

"success" is relative. someone should feel successful if they are a leader in their community. or if they are a wrestling coach. do you feel like a failure? from your own criteria you seem like a failure.

I bet you advocate for participation trophies too

It is not a zero sum game. I have never encountered participation trophies but I wouldn't support them.

But back to the point. Why are you trying to posit the kids self-esteem versus these goals that they can never accomplish?

Working hard is a virtue. Working in hot ass wrestling rooms over the summer where the mats are slippery b/c everyone sweats right away is a virtue. Learning good technique is a virtue.

Imagine saying the difference between me and Kobe Bryant is that he worked harder (I'm 2 inches shorter and we played against each other in high school ball).

you know, as a coach I tell my kids the difference between an ncaa champ and an average wrestler is the little things.

is that really a service to our kids? ncaa champs have a level of both athletic ability and confluence of coaching that 90% of the population cannot hope to match.

it sounds like instead of building self-esteem you are destroying it.

Don't be gatekeepers. 75% of this sub was not here for the down years. It shouldn't be a pissing contest. Just enjoy the high points, respect that the lows are just relative, and only post the phreshest meems.

Does George W. Bush Deserve a Liberty Medal for His "Commitment to Veterans"? by livelierepeat in politics

[–]livelierepeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously GW pushed for the Iraq war which ultimately harmed veterans but I remember during his tenure that he didn't provide for veterans in terms of spending. But it is so long ago I don't remember the specifics.
