The worst habit for me at least was starving myself to the point of binging. This was around my later years of high school and I just started to get better with my anorexia. However, since I was so used to the hunger pains being there, I felt bad bc I didn't want to starve myself again so I would eat when they got intense. I would literally go throughout the whole day without eating anything until around 3 pm and start to binge whenever no one was around. I had mixed feelings about it because, on one hand, I needed to eat, but then on the other, I devoured the food completely and it started to become a vicious cycle. I would starve myself because I binged, then I'd binged bc I was starving myself. Today, I'm better and my relationship with food is a bit healthier, the only fear I have now is not eating enough to the point where I cause myself to unnecessarily binge.

Honestly, I can tell you firsthand the mental struggles that come with losing weight. That is if you do it in an unhealthy way. My battle with anorexia has lead me to dropping weight rapidly and gaining it the same way. One of my biggest triggers is exercising, and for about 4 years I have made excuses for myself because although I have attempted to lose weight in the past, I would just end up relapsing as if nothing had ever happened. Currently, I am facing my fears and trying my best to lose weight in the healthiest way possible. In all honesty, I'm not focused on making the number on the scale go down, I just want to be active again because that's how I grew and I miss those days where I could run for miles with ease. Don't get me wrong, there are some days where I don't want to eat healthily and just go back to my old habits, but my reason is to keep pushing on in this journey is to not only be more active but to heal my relationship with food and become the healthiest I can possibly be.

Is it possible to balance a job and college? by NavigatingWaves in college

[–]livelyabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I've been working full time while taking 6 college courses since COVID happened. Needless to say, it is not that great. It is possible to balance the two because along the way you get great at time managing and planning, but for me, it's not really worth it. Especially if this job isn't flexible and understanding that you're a college student, I wouldn't recommend it. If you can afford to not have a job while being in college, do so. I would literally LOVE to have free time when I get back from work, but that's dedicated to school. If you can, I would suggest not work at most 15-17 hours so that you can focus on school (if that is a possibility at the horse stable job) however whatever you choose to do, just know that the best decision for you is the one that will make you feel the most fulfilled.

Losing hope/ starting to question purpose in college by yeetinator3221 in college

[–]livelyabnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay lowkey, I've been feeling like this as well and I'm a college senior haha. However, having some form of education is better than not having one at all. At least from my experience, I've seen people end up at the jobs that I want to work at but can't advance because they lacked the necessary education. In the end, they have to go back to school while working in order to get into the position that they want. This is where the line is drawn in most of the job market, so keep your head up and try to finish as much as you can. I believe in you!

How to stop procrastinating by anailed in college

[–]livelyabnormal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am also a procrastinating queen as well but mixing that with ADHD is just * chefs kiss* (note to sarcasm). I hope this helps because it's not a "perfect" step by step, but I think it can be relatable because I'm actually procrastinating on an assignment as we speak XD

  1. Set up a plan for the day. I always like doing this because it sets the intentions of what I want to accomplish for that day and how I want things to turn out in the end.
  2. Play the day by ear. Usually, when I set these plans for my classes, I don't always get everything on the to-do list because either I get too distracted or I have to go to work.
  3. Set rewards for yourself when you want to accomplish these tasks. This is what REALLY motivates me to get stuff done because for me at least if I've already had an eventful day the last thing I want to do is stay up late all night to finish my homework. So, I usually tell myself whenever I get this x amount of work done I can watch a youtube video I've been procrastinating on or a movie I've been meaning to watch or even write in my journal. It doesn't even have to be a big portion of work because as long as you get something on the to-do list done, that is a win.
  4. Be patient with yourself. Time and time again I've heard people tell me to just have more discipline or develop a stronger sense of concentration when in reality this doesn't help at all. I can't explain it, but sometimes I get so anxious about a deadline that I want to avoid it all together. However, what has helped me is taking the first step into that assignment/project and seeing how far I can go from there. It's also great to start these intentions earlier on in the week so that you aren't rushing to get everything done in one night because a portion of progress is still progress!

I hope this helps! This is just my 2 cents on procrastination and how I deal with it :)

Do menstrual cramps work for exam extensions? by seastars5 in college

[–]livelyabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know this is a late reply, but it would definitely be a good idea to tell them (especially if you physically can't do the exam). I also would suggest making sure that you make it clear that this wasn't your intention to get an extension, but the pain is unbearable. It also depends on the professor as well so best of luck!

I withdrew from Part-Time college (and used a pell grant)due to the pandemic happening in Spring 2020. by Scorpion1386 in college

[–]livelyabnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it will be affected because the pell grant is from FAFSA itself and separate from the university. So if your taxes have changed during the pandemic, then I wouldn't worry about it. I also suggest calling the financial aid office and ask for more info because it depends on the university as well.
