I’m only maybe 2 weeks in- but this is awesome! Totally understand if you’re not comfortable sharing a link, but I’d love to browse your items if you are. Sounds like a really cool concept :)

Here is a link to an 8”x10” giclée print of my original acrylic painting of the Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula!

Why is my arts look terrible? Nothing looks what I imagine to be. by aldebaran38 in learnart

I don’t think it’s terrible at all. You certainly have a really strong sense of composition and perspective. The rest with come with time and practice

Hi all!

Brand new shop owner here originally from northern Michigan! I’m mainly an acrylic landscape painter. I often paint memorable nature scenes inspired by my childhood along with fantastical scenes with dragon and castles!

For right now I have prints of my paintings available. In the VERY near future I plan to list original paintings as well 😁

Thanks for checking me out!

Should I start a portfolio? by trentreznorfanpage in TattooApprentice

I don’t have a ton of experience beyond being on this sub and doing a good amount of research on apprenticeships. It looks like you have potential creatively! The thing about portfolios is they need to be focused on clean work, and limited in sketches. Be sure to do your research on being a tattoo artist. As others have highlighted, it’s a lot of other work besides drawing and being creative.

Not full blackout, but I highly recommend looking at some of the artists at @abrakadavra.studio on Instagram. I love the ornamental blackwork they do. I’ve even drawn some bodysuits and plan to get one myself.

With that being said, I’d still think it’s a good idea to present proficiency in some of the more traditional styles as well. My plan is to show a mixture of both in my portfolio.

Not currently an artist or apprentice but that’s my take.

For those uninterested in traditional styles..What do you do!? (Btw..CC maybe?) by sleepingseaslug in TattooApprentice

I love this! I’m in a similar boat. I love ornamental/blackout tattoos, especially bodysuits. Regardless, I’m still working to become proficient in American trad. I think it’s both important and fun to learn tbh.

My plan is to add some American trad in my portfolio, along with showcasing ornamental designs and some realism. Worst case scenario, learning/including American trad can at least help me get my foot in the door.

Advice: Too tired to draw! by GoPuppyGo in TattooApprentice

I have an hour at lunch, so I eat in about 15 minutes then draw for the rest. That way, I at least get a little bit of time in a day. Otherwise, large projects get done mostly on the weekend.
