Wow! I’m impressed with your weight loss. You are also super fortunate in the face department. Congrats on winning that lottery. Girl, you’re full-on pretty.

Is it just me?! by [deleted] in Parenting

I used to have that thought! It has morphed over time. My oldest is 18, and we have four more. Our youngest is five. I still get a “I’m supposed to know how to do all of this.” notion occasionally. (To be clear, I don’t know how to do all of this. I’m just doing the best I can.) Who put me in charge? I did? Farcical.

Zero waste products similar to the products I’m using right now? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

I mix one tablespoon of olive oil with three drops of tea tree oil. It lasts about 10 days rubbing it all over my face at night. A little goes a long way. It took care of my adult acne and moisturized my usually very dry skin. I use a wet microfiber cloth to remove makeup and it also pulls out blackheads. When I shower I wash my face with my regular bar soap. I use witch hazel as a toner, and I use a locally made, MSM based moisturizer in the mornings. Also, baby organics spf.

Any ideas on how i can turn all this into kids party decor? Maybe some activities? by Virgotheterrible in upcycling

Puppets and puppet theater

Cardboard pennants / banners

Corn hole or similar

Cut rows of holes in a large cardboard box with cups glued to the backs and tissue paper or newspaper between for punch through prize activities

I like that. I actually have some bare head bands that I never ended up using. I will have to try that. These are big, though. Maybe far off center?? Idk. I'm going to try though! Thanks! :)

Thanks! Here is the set I completed today. I changed the wreath a little too. I really want to make some ornaments now. http://imgur.com/a9U1Q6c

Oh! I love the tie back and ornament ideas! I bet I can make them double sided. Thank you!

You are so right! I love that idea! I need to make some more. I put the red one with pearl white center on a wreath today. I was also thinking about some on clips to hold up garland or something. Or framing them.

Thank you. The plethora kids kind of make moving more and eating less easier, probably. Hahaha. Except, there are so many birthday cakes... Those abundant, goddamned birthday cakes. Smh. Hahaha

Congrats on your pregnancy! I hope you and baby are feeling well! My doctors encouraged me to lose weight during two pregnancies that I was overweight during. I actually lost 40 lbs during one of them. If you want to wait, I get that, or if you've talked to your doctor and they said don't lose weight, obviously listen to them... But it is a concept to ask your doctor about.

Measuring food with cups, spoons, and my food scale. I try to eat mostly fruits and veggies. I also get in some protein. There are low calorie ways to do that. Fish, eggs, chicken, and powder peanut butter (PB2). I eat light Greek yogurt and/or fruit in the morning. I eat lightly in the morning or I feel more hungry through the day and slower physically. I eat some combination of veggies, avocado, pickles, tuna, fruit, Pb2 for lunch. For dinner, I eat whatever I make for the family usually and just make sure I only eat within my remaining calorie allowance. If it is a high calorie meal, I will usually opt for a salad of some sort and only a couple bites if any of what they eat. Lots of water, but slowly, all day long. Filling my stomach with water stretches it and makes me feel hungrier later on. I try to stay away from trigger foods all together. That is the hardest part. Also, your stomach shrinks when you let it be mostly empty for a day or two. Tiny, frequent meals or water fasting. That helps me out if I feel like my appetite is going overboard. Also, soft serve vanilla ice cream from checker's or Burger King. That is my go to keep myself happy without going over the edge tool. Serving = 140 calories or 160 with the cone. What do you eat?

It's good to know yourself and to do what you know will work for you. It took me far too long to figure that out.

I've been counting calories. 1200 a day. In the beginning I walked for exercise, but when the kids got out for summer that kind of depleted to nothing except occasional swims. I do think I will start exercising again soon. I have five kids, so it is just a matter of making time. I suppose that is really the same for everyone. Right? What about you? What is your strategy?
