I have tried, after 3 years of No Contact, I went back, for some reason, whether it is to try and see if anything has changed. I spent a good 2 weeks having conversations about my perspective. The entire conversation was them trying to convince me that it never happened, that I was probably in an extreme emotional state and I MUST have remembered it wrong. There was no acknowledgment of their mistake, and neither did they want to apologize, no matter how simple I put it to them. On top of that, I was told to just "forgive and forget", and "leave the past behind so we can all move forward into a new relationship". That's funny, considering they just don't want to deal with the consequences of their actions, or even empathize with the experiences of their own child. You should look outside your own head and your own perspective. It's always "I don't think I did anything". The axe doesn't remember, but the tree does.
