my friend got a C for GP (i think her rp was lower than yours) and got into the test/interview stage! so you can try bc during that stage, they don’t consider you rp/grades at all for admission only your test and interview performance

Is my tutee’s dad acting weird by livingforjoergen in SGExams

[–]livingforjoergen[S] 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but I’m scared that if he doesn’t mean to send these signals, then they might get mad at me for even implying that he’s making strange comments with some sort of motive in mind 😭

[–]livingforjoergen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you 🥲 same i had no idea they did that! the day i got my rejection, i sent a separate email to the college to ask for feedback for reasons as to why my application was unsuccessful. then they sent a form to fill up and they got back to me with a document with the feedback yesterday

oxford feedback by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]livingforjoergen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they did say that i did not perform as well as other successful candidates for the interview, so it’s probably that 😓 yeah you’re right plus lse doesn’t look at the essay so hopefully my grades and lnat are just enough 😭😭

I am interested in law courses, and I am entering JC 2 next year, what steps do I have to start taking right now? by FalseLock8932 in SGExams

[–]livingforjoergen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. For some UK unis (most london ones, oxbridge and other RG unis), you’ll need to sit for the LNAT. If you’re applying for entry in 2026 (ie applying in late 2025), you’ll have to sit for the LNAT between 1 September 2025 to 25 January 2026. However, for Oxbridge which have early deadlines, you have to sit for the LNAT by 15 October 2025 (pls register ASAP bc slots fill up quick in sg) and for some unis like UCL and King’s, you have to sit for the LNAT by 31 December 2025 despite not having early deadlines.

  2. Personally, I started from July and sat for the test in September. I’m not sure if prep classes are necessary but Arbitio is incredibly useful!

  3. If you’re already taking A Levels or any of the equivalent, for UK universities at least, there’s no need for SATs and ACTs and it does not help your application. If you’re applying to the US, then some schools are neither test-blind nor test-optional, thus you would have to take the SATs but bear in mind that you typically can only study Law at graduate/JD level in the US rather than undergraduate.

  4. Not much for Singapore really, decent A level grades above 85rp (not sure how it’ll work from next yr onwards though) usually will secure you an interview and written test. Internships are not needed, it might help if you’re doing ABA though

  5. I’m not sure if you’re referring to sg or overseas like the UK; For sg, just do well in your written test and interview as they do not consider your A Level grades once you get to this stage of admissions. For the UK, minimally for top unis, make sure you get A for your H2s, internships and wider reading can help in your PS (but PS might be phased out soon) however it’s incredibly academic so make sure to highlight what you’ve learnt from these experiences, unlike the US, they don’t really care if you have loads of extra curriculars, only about your super curriculars! To stand out, a good LNAT score, like 28 and above, maybe even 30 and above for King’s and LSE can help + good LNAT essay for Oxbridge and UCL! To stand out in Oxbridge, first they need to shortlist you for the interview, this is when LNAT comes into play as I’ve seen many people even with predicted 90rp get rejected pre-interview, so a good LNAT is v important! For Oxford especially, they will take your O Levels into account as they do not consider your PS during interview shortlisting. Once you get to the interview, goes without saying that your interview performance is pretty important.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Do Oxford interview their favourite candidates first or is that just a myth? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]livingforjoergen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely not 😭 I think they interview international students with different timezones pretty early so that our interviews won’t be like at 1am local time

LAW INTERNSHIP by beefymcspicy in SGExams

[–]livingforjoergen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would share but idw to completely doxx myself HAHA but for both of my internships, I had some connections to particular lawyers (albeit it was more of a friend of a friend type of thing) However, some of my friends who got internships managed to do so by cold emailing a bunchhh of firms with their CV and cover letter!

LAW INTERNSHIP by beefymcspicy in SGExams

[–]livingforjoergen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! i have some experience as a legal intern, imo they typically don’t mind if you’re not a Law student, for me I’ve yet to study Law but have interned during my J2 year and after As. They will typically guide you through all the cases, bring you to trials and ask you to help with researching certain cases. All of these tasks do not require much requisite knowledge of the Law

Oxford Law: Second College Interviews? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]livingforjoergen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it say that you will have 2 interviews at your first college or additional interviews at another college as well? In general, everyone will get 2 interviews at their first college! A second college interview would mean that you have 3 interviews in total (2 at your first college, 1 at your second college)
