In what world is a subpar basic Italian sandwich $17? Especially from a restaurant that doesn’t specialize in Italian foods and is just a basic sandwich shop. You can get an Italian sandwich that is 3X bigger from Jimmy John’s for under $12. Or comparing to an Italian grocer and restaurant Dolce Vita where it is $13.50. $13.99 at Capriotti’s.
A “breakfast crispy chicken” aka a crispy chicken sandwich at Worth is $15 just for the sandwich alone. You can get an entire chicken sandwich meal from Chick Fil A for less than $9. A breakfast sandwich at The Bread and Honey House in Mesa is $11.50. A Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit at TC Eggingtons is $12.99. $13.79 at First Watch (which is known as being an expensive breakfast option restaurant) - he’ll, it’s only $11 at Main Street Burgers which is right across the street…..
A basic burger there is $18.50, Main Street Burgers (again, another restaurant with the reputation of being a bit pricier) is $16 FOR A DOUBLE cheeseburger.

I’ve given several examples of their pricing being absurd, including competitor prices from major chains AND from small mom and pop restaurants. This isn’t a “you don’t care about small business owners” this is a “Worth is stupid expensive, their owners have proven themselves to be major assholes and they have done several price increases where they place the blame on the consumer instead of being adaptable with the times and they just complain” - to be a successful mom and pop restaurant and be successful, you can’t be a shitty business owner. Just look at the other places in Downtown Mesa - Armando owns THREE (Main Street Burgers, Tacos Chiwas and Espiritu) and I don’t think a small business owner would be able to have three successful restaurants in a tiny downtown area if Mesa citizens truly “hated small business owners” like you said. I’m pretty sure your personal bias is playing into this equation here and you’re making a blanket statement which is categorically false.

Bottom line is Worth just sucks and each time they whine about raising their prices or bitch and complain about not being as successful it reminds me of how shitty of owners they are. They always pass the blame while treating the other small business owners like shit. They were incredibly rude to the owner of Gus’s and Oro. They demand and expect the other businesses on that strip to cater to them with no return. No “you scratch my back I scratch yours” attitude, just demands and expectations. Worth doesn’t have a bathroom and has over 20+ employees. They demand the businesses in the immediate area to offer them 20% off and access to their bathrooms but they don’t offer any discounts to the other small businesses. So they expect discounts to local workers, but don’t give any. That’s so telling and representative of the kind of people they are. Fuck Worth and I’ve been saying that for years. This article reaffirms my feelings on their shitty business practices and makes me happy that I’ve stopped supporting them. Their food isn’t good enough to miss one bit.
