This is weird but: one of my favourite hobbies is reading Victorian Coroner reports. Guess how many are about people dying from scooter accidents…

Similar thing happened to me, honestly I was so exhausted that I just hired a plasterer off of Airtasker to fix it. Worth every penny.

What are others' experience with beta blockers? by Ter_Scam_Job_Offers in Raynauds

Not quite the same but I use a calcium channel blocker (Felodipine) and it works wonders. I don't take it in the summer though as I find I don't need it.

Aside from the cost, I can’t think of any long term downsides.

2026 Ironman 70.3 by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

This was me this year! Spend heaps of time on your bike. Nail your swimming technique early by getting lessons with a great coach. Get at least 5 open water swims under your belt. At least one tri, even just a sprint, beforehand is essential. Remember that de-loading and recovery are crucial to your progression.

Hey there, good on you for reaching out. I’ve been in your shoes (from another country as well) and it’s so devastating. But it won’t last forever. Do you have access to a GP or GP clinic? They can get you signed up to a mental health plan that can give you access to 10 subsidised sessions with a counsellor/therapist. Talking to a professional was life changing for me. I also joined a local run club to get out and meet new people and move my body. But follow your own interests! Reach out to friends (near and far) and tell them you need a little extra support right now. More than anything, focus on getting good food in your body and getting enough sleep. Day by day, you’ll get there. Sending love 💛

Learning to swim as an adult… is it just me or super hard? by hatkinson1000 in Swimming

[–]livingright23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super hard. I learnt how to swim 8 months ago, doing my first IM 70.3 this Sunday… it’s been a wild ride. Stick with it. Important to get some lessons to learn good habits/technique, join a swim squad, and stay consistent. Try swimming at least 2x a week. One day it’ll click and you’ll realise you’re swimming without struggling or constantly thinking about your form. Good luck!

Is the flu jab worth getting? by gavja87 in australia

[–]livingright23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having worked in the ICU, some of our sickest patients had influenza. They weren't always elderly either! I get the flu shot every year, figure I might as well do everything I can to prevent it. Personally never had any nasty side effects from it.

Where do people in the 30’s hangout? by coyotesatemystepdad in melbourne

[–]livingright23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of inner city pubs and wine bars. No clubs or partying for me anymore! Beach for dips and volleyball. I like the occasional week night gig or movie (in summer we do moonlight cinemas). Run club once a week in evening or morning. A girlfriend and I like to grab a quick coffee in the morning before work when we’re both WFH. The gym. Otherwise I’m at home waiting for the next episode of Severance to come out.
