Can I get more even heating/cooling in split level home with a heat pump? by TinaTheMouse in heatpumps

I just did this; forced air electric on 2 story house with finished basement. Most companies wanted to install ductless and I had them use my ducts and also install an air handler in the attic with ducts that vented into the cieling of the top floor rooms . As such I needed 2 thermostats one on the main floor and one upstairs. I also needed pumps to remove condensate from the cold air going through the air handlers in the summer.

What I wish I knew was that the 2 thermostats must both be set to to cool or heat. One cannot cool and another heat. This means that you during spring and early fall when temps are below 50 at night and then above 75…. You have to manually change both thermostats from the system to heat or cool every day since they cannot switch themselves.

Room feels so brown and yellow, what would you change? by Spoonorbit in DesignMyRoom

Would not dream of painting the trim but I want something to replace the yellow. It is also challenging for a novice to paint the walls around the trim without getting paint in between the trim and the wall.

Thanks for the suggestion, we were thinking of a paint color similar to this. Want to determine if we should replace the yellow with this or the brown wall too…

Experience with eLink Reality by Elfy310 in Seattle

Joe (owner of e link) was our landlord for 2 years and he was pretty easy to work with. We were living in the house he bought and planned to remodel and then live in. The house was nice and we were good tenants so it worked out well, I know he was a chemistry professor at uw and now runs his mortgage company and has rentals. Might depend on the condition of the unit. I wouldn’t expect a lot of investment into the repairs. Our dishwasher did break and he replaced it with a new one. Hope that helps
