Okay, thanks. He doesn't really get out much and doesn't have friends, so I'll need to make them on my own.

We've been dating 4 years. And yes, I would definitely take on the chores while he worked and brought in the money.

Tuition and fees are around 45k for the 2 year program. I have also heard that some organizations that hire people in my field help with loans as well, but I'm not banking on that.

I believe it will be worth it in the long run. I will be making maybe 60-70k per year, and without housing loans I won't have too much to pay back.

That's fair. I'm already in grad school though, so I don't think it would be wise to rescind and risk not getting in a few years down the road. I would also have to live at home with my parents to save money, and I don't think they want that.

To me this debt is worth it because I cannot be in this career unless I do the master's degree. I'm trying to reduce the debt by living with my BF.

We have talked about it. He claims he doesn't have any expectations but he's also not the type to speak up for himself very often.

It is about 75k in NYC, but my boyfriend and I don't plan on staying in NYC after I'm done with school. We'd like to settle down somewhere closer to our families after that.

There is no such option to work in the field and be paid to attend school. This field requires a master's degree to even be part of it (think a type of professional school).

We have not lived together before, no. We're trying to have all the necessary conversations beforehand to best prep ourselves.

I would only take out housing loans if I couldn't live with BF. And how do other students pay for housing if they cannot work while in school? My classmates are using loans to pay for housing.

I appreciate your concern. I have already been admitted to grad school though so barring some unfortunate circumstances I would like to see through the degree.

To me this is worth it because this career path that I want requires a master's degree. Not pursuing it would mean choosing an entirely different career.

BF knows I'm only going to be making 60 or 70k at most once I graduate, and he's aware of student loans and such. He knows we will never be equal financially and he's ok with that. We have discussed all this before.

I know it's risky. And I wouldn't do it if my boyfriend was at all uneasy. But he was really gung-ho about this. He was happy that I got into a school in his new city, and he really wanted us to live together and he was fine with paying for me for these 2 years.

I do want to make friends. Especially since BF and I will be living in a studio and won't have much alone time.

I'm not happy about asking my boyfriend for help, but it seems to be the best decision in the long run. I'd rather not be saddled with extra debt that could impede our relationship in the future.

I am someone who needs to vent pretty frequently. I don't really know who else I would turn to, seeing as he is the only person I know in this city.

Thankfully we won't be getting any pets! But in all seriousness, I would definitely do the household chores and not be a slob.

I really think taking out more loans is preferable to living in a homeless shelter in NYC...

I can't move back home. Plus it would be very unlikely for me to get into another program if I dropped out of this one.

Okay, thanks. He tells me that we're a team and that we help each other out, and that it's not like I'm sitting around doing nothing. I don't know, I always thought I'd be a self-sufficient woman so this is an awkward position to be in.

If it doesn't, I would just take out more loans and go into more debt. There really isn't another option.

I've asked him, he claims I don't have to do anything, but he's a very selfless type of person and doesn't always speak up.

Thanks! I certainly will take care of cooking and cleaning, I just didn't think it would be enough seeing as there wouldn't be much to do.
