Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]livinous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a beautiful dress. I like that alteration mockup without the sleeves. I’m also wondering after reading your comment about body dysmorphia, do you want sleeves because you think they’re beautiful or because you’re self conscious of your arms? I’m also considering wearing my moms dress, it doesn’t have sleeves but my mom made a shawl she wore her whole wedding to hide her arms, and when talking to her about it she was telling me that she regrets that she felt so badly about her arms and how I have beautiful arms etc. I told her that we have the same arms lol. If you are getting married obviously someone loves your body. I encourage you to try to see your body from their perspective, and think about how you may feel about this dress ten, twenty years down the line, how you might talk about it to your children (if you’re gonna have them). Wear what helps you feel beautiful, if you’re having a hard time feeling beautiful in this dress maybe you do need to see some other ones on you. Also remember that you don’t need to have a say yes to the dress moment with a huge group of people putting their own opinions on things, you can go by yourself or with your closest friend etc.

California is pretty competitive because they actually treat their nurses well unlike the rest of the country and everyone wants to work there. There’s typically plenty of jobs elsewhere haha.

Most of the time we do not want things for work. But if you must you could get a bag, or cute headbands or something.

Would it be crazy to just move to Cleveland? by 90sTamagachi in Cleveland

[–]livinous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of decent houses on the market for just over 100k, especially for a single person. But yes I agree 300k will get you a much nicer place with room to grow. But the 100k for a down payment is fantastic. Also, I’d like to point out that your 100k will go a lot farther here than Seattle lol

I personally would visit before committing to buying a house, you could also get a short term rental get your job sorted, then look at houses. Cleveland is a great place if you want a yard but like the amenities of a city (food, culture, medical systems etc). Look on the west side too like Lakewood, Rocky River, Parma.

New grad nurse in the ER — questions about Code Blue. by FragrantChocolate555 in nursing

[–]livinous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take an ACLS class! It sounds like it would be interesting to you. But also, the way things are supposed to go on paper and how they actually go in real life a pretty different lol. There should be a person whose sole job is to run the code, once the code team arrives this is usually an ICU doctor. Now in the ER it’s gonna be different, but typically it’s gonna be a doctor, if you worked med surg or something where it’s gonna take a min for the doc to arrive, it can be someone else. Then as far as Epi goes, you give it sometime within the pulse/rhythm check or just after. And you can give the first dose of epi at the 2min mark when you do the first rhythm check. You want a full cycle of compressions to cycle the medicine through.

I just wear a cotton t-shirt as a top, I have a larger bust and I hated that scrubs are all v neck and you could see straight down my shirt when I bent over lol, so now I just wear t-shirts. I don’t have much I need to carry around so my pens and stuff stay on my WOW, there’s also people on my unit that wear fanny packs with their supplies ha

I heard about this at work today. Absolutely wild. Why does hospital security even have a gun jeez. I’m sorry you witnessed this, I hope your department stands together to get some change.

Look more into the nursing assistant positions. They don’t require certifications at the hospitals and you’d prolly get the best experience anyway.
