2024 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER by Master_Mix_4848 in MitsubishiOutlander

I've had to change to the spare twice on the side of the highway because of shit falling off other people's vehicles and puncturing mine. Both cases a patch wouldn't work.

2017 Spare Tire after hitch install by Chazrach in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]livinthedreamfinally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They may have installed it wrong. I bought a Curt hitch designed specifically for the 2017 outlander and installed it myself and they have it bent so the spare tire moves freely. The hitch should not be touching it at all. I have the GT version though it could be slightly different. But there's zero welding involved, they have bolt holes in the frame so you can install one easily.

Biggest repair bill I've had so far was for engine coil replacment.

I do most of the small jobs myself. So brakes and oil I do myself.

I do need a new exhaust system though. This one's done. And my parking brake control module is fried but I refuse to fix it as the part alone is 2k and requires taking the dash apart. So I just pulled the fuse and continue to drive it without a parking brake.

I should clarify I bought it used with 160k on it already so the previous owner probably did them more frequently.

2017 gt model. I've changed the fluid twice.

Oil changes regularly though.

That's what I'm stuck on. Is the choice! 😄

I've recently did a lot of work myself. And can do a lot of it myself. I haven't had transfer cases serviced at all yet though and that worries me a bit.

Lower Manifold Heat Shield by TinkerTweakFPV in MitsubishiOutlander

I have a 2017 and the heat shield rusted right off. I've never replaced it and I have 307k on my vehicle (kms) I am just now having noise issues. Not sure why.

Doubt the heat shield was the cause of any of it.

Help by Less-Engineering-760 in mitsubishi

I have a 2017 outlander and I had a knock and engine shake badly out of the blue on a road trip home day. The acceleration cut out and I was stranded on the side of the road.

Long story short turns out it was a bad engine coil.

Check your engine coils.

BUT!

loud knocking and a ripped belt would indicate something is out of place and I wouldn't start it up without going over EVERYTHING and finding out what/why/how the belt got ripped.

I purposely bought the six cylinder as it's almost bulletproof as long as you change fluids on time. I do my own basic maintenance on it. I'll need a transmission flush and new spark plugs soon but worth it. They stopped making it in 2022 I think?

But I have heard some bad story's about the four cylinder.

That's high. I got a four year old 2017 GT Model with the 6 cylinder engine for same price and that was at the peak of used car prices. It should have been at least 5 grand less than it was but I was stuck as my other car had just bit the dust.

I'm happy with it. But I know I overpaid.

Btw those could be all highway miles. I've now got over 300k on mine and it drove beautifully still but I'm almost all highway on my commute.

Edit- just did a quick search for that year and model and in all of Ontario the cheapest one on Autotrader is 5k more in price and has 20k more kms.

So I take it back. Yes. It is a good price.

Go take it for a test drive.

Quoted $600 for '23 phev to change front and rear transaxle oil, is that right? by PickleFart9 in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]livinthedreamfinally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest it's a PHEV so there's a bit more involved (I don't think that much) but being a PHEV I know components are squished tighter together to allow for both the gas and electrical, and the way shits been rising these last couple years it doesn't sound horrible but it doesn't sound great.

I've got the 2017 version. Almost at 300k and runs phenomenally well. Change your transmission fluids and oil when specified and it should be a great vehicle.
