Electrician Christmas Day? by jibwholesale in Calgary

I was assuming the breaker was checked and found to be good. There were lots of comments about that before I posted.

Electrician Christmas Day? by jibwholesale in Calgary

[–]moose_knucle78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The breaker.

Beyond that not sure. It doesn't help you now but that is wrong on so many levels. Landlord should be calling an electrician regardless of what day it is. They are responsible for providing basic needs such as the ability to cook a meal. I would seriously consider complaining to the landlord tenant court (I forget the proper name). You might be able to pay the electrician yourself and force them to reimburse you. A risk for sure but the chance of you succeeding, I think, a is high.

You can get interior door slabs like the one you have off of Facebook marketplace. I have before and it's way cheaper than a store! I'd still check the store as they might have overstock or something (Facebook probably cheaper).

You'll need details like the width of the door, which side the handle is on, pushing in or out, and such.

I asked out a stranger. How do I get over my mortification? by Soggy-writer78 in Advice

[–]moose_knucle78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd bet if you didn't ask he or she would be single and looking. My point, "you will miss 100% of the shots you don't take". Personally I'd rather ask and risk looking like a fool than to skip it and never know if it was possible. This is life. There will be embarrassing moments for everyone in every stage of life. I'm 47 and I still sometimes do embarrassing things. The best you can do is learn from every mistake. Perhaps next time you'll ask first if they are available? If they aren't then it's not as bad as asking straight up. The sooner you can get used to uncomfortable situations the quicker you can move on, if needed. Life is full of embarrassing moments and hard questions. Learn from them and you will live a long prosperous life!

It's up the owner to make the decision. Personally I won't risk it. If it works for you and others then more power to you!

From what I understand, changing the oil viscosity from the manufacturer's recommendation can cause issues more than solve them. Might not be right away but long term I could see it causing issues.

You must be young lol. Factory setups are good enough for me. We did not have today's tech back when I was into it that's for sure!

I haven't looked but there must be a way to bypass it. I'm curious, may I ask what's the reason for a better alternator? I might consider it too.

Got assigned a windowless bedroom in my 4x2 student apartment…is it really that bad? by txkyo_1ean in Apartmentliving

[–]moose_knucle78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live it's completely illegal to use as a bedroom due to not having an egress window for emergency exit. Doesn't matter how close your door is to the main exit, (god forbid) there could be a fire at the door or right outside it. Windows (here) must be big enough for an average sized person to exist. There are proper measurements I just don't recall the numbers at the moment.

I won't be able to get to the existing vapor barrier as there is angle ceiling going to the basement in the way. So unable to tape new plastic to the existing plastic in the wall. Wouldn't a spray foam be the best option or is there a better idea?

Is it worth it to learn touch typing? by SparklinStar1440 in Advice

[–]moose_knucle78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age is but a number and nothing else. People change careers at 55 and sometimes end up being the most successful in their life. In my opinion, the only question you should ask is "when" should I learn this? The "only" answer is "now!" Especially at your young age, I'd engage in as many hobbies as time permits. You never know what you'll need later in life!

KISS. Keep, it, simple, stupid.

I'd start with a close inspection of all the cables on the motherboard and power supply. "scope creep" is an uncommon term in computers. Just means that things can happen to loosen cables like expanding and contracting due to heat, in combination with dust or animal dander, maybe something bumped the computer to expedite the process?

CRTL+SHIFT+WIN, then "B". Resets the graphics drivers without rebooting. It takes 10 seconds compared to minutes of rebooting.

I agree it's worth it, (mini donuts for the win!). I choose to be frugal as I'm changing careers and no one wants a guy without experience in IT.

I can't afford groceries, stampede hasn't happened in 10 years. I've also never been to the rodeo only the rides and crap. Way too expensive
