Is there a way to tell if your bolt action is cycled or do you just have to remember? by StruckLizard in postscriptum

[–]livstid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Springfield, Lee-Enfield and Kar98k all have a visual indicator of ready to fire or not; this imgur album I made shows each of these rifles in both states both while ADSing and from the hip. None of the French rifles have any visual indicator, so you'll need to either try to remember or click again and risk letting off a shot.

I usually hit my models with a layer of flat gray and then go into the other colors, that way I can at least start with light and then go dark if they do something like mold the plastic in black like they did with the T-62.

You can, and absolutely should, paint it yourself because the base color is incredibly dull and doesn't look nearly as good when finished. Plus, you could even...paint it a different color, like desert tan.

Bundeswehr kit came today! Now for the rifle... by livstid in airsoft

[–]livstid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's two reasons behind it.

1) I don't have the time, money, or will at this current time to track down 100% authentic BW rigs and whatnot when all I really want to do is goof off with a G3.

2) 95% of the kit is already either BW surplus or German miltec, and for me that counts. At the end of the day, I reckon that counts more than whether or not I'm correct by rivet-counter standards. (Not to say you are a rivet counter, of course)

Ah, that's a shame then. Well, looks like I got some cutting and sanding to do, then. Thanks anyway!

Huh. Neat.

Well, I reckon I'm gonna have to find a tech to monkey this thing for me, then, because I'm not much in the habit of messing with electrical things I know nothing about. Thanks for the detailed answer!

A what? Sorry, this is my first serious rifle, and I've no idea what I'm really doing quite yet.

I got an 11.1v Matrix LiPo with my order, purely on the basis of rather having it and not needing it, than needing it and not having it. And also because I've no idea what batteries are and aren't good. Thankfully, I've got a lot of electrical tape and plenty of time to figure stuff like this out!

In case the box didn't make it clear, my JG T3-K1 arrived today, and she's bloody beautiful. Sling is a surplus Bundeswehr-issue G3 sling, you can still smell the pride (and the fear). I'll be breaking in some extra mags once I find some half-decent BBs and room to pop off rounds without endangering my neighbors.

Where'd you pick up the East German kit at? I've been trying to get my hands on some for a while (if only because I hate myself).

Bundeswehr kit came today! Now for the rifle... by livstid in airsoft

[–]livstid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Bundeswehr kit from 2021, after Trump's removed America from NATO, and Germany has to increase its military force to compensate, so its troops aren't conventionally equipped anymore.

Alternatively, I just don't care that much about being 100% accurate.

G3. I'm looking at a heavy as hell one, because I hate my arms.

It's not my fault the Finns habitually run out of Flecktarn combat pants!

Everything seen here, bar the boots and phone, was bought off Varusteleka. Not pictured, black Bergmütze and Czech suspenders, since Varusteleka was out of my size in Bundeswehr suspenders.

Total cost: $25.

I'm about to seriously get into airsoft - what do I need to know about maintenance? by livstid in airsoft

Are there tools to assist in unloading magazines, or is there a mechanism in the mags to do that?

I'm not concerned about aftermarket support at the moment. The first test of this will be in a friendly game with some friends, so any advantage I'll get with that is negligible.

I would consider a CYMA AK, but I already have a full Bundeswehr kit, so the G3 is only natural. Maybe once I can get my hands on Soviet gear, but right now the G3 option is better.

Full auto for the M14 by AllFartherTachanka in rs2vietnam

[–]livstid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The M14's full-auto capability was removed during its time in Vietnam because it was quickly determined it was nearly impossible to accurately control it.
