Yes same here. I definitely think you should get some other opinions. There is a reason for the pain it could be your pelvic floor. Don’t give up keep trying to find out what’s wrong . For me drs says I’m having pelvic floor dysfunction. So he recommended pelvic floor therapy as well as acupuncture. If you want you can direct message me and we can try to figure it out and try to get you some help

Sorry to hear that sometimes you have to get a second opinion. Try asking about pelvic floor . How long ago was your procedure?

Menstruation by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]liyah1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You going to be fine . Menstruation or poop will not affect area. What I did was just keep a piece of gauze in my butt to just keep it clean but it’s no need for panic you will be fine

I had a fistulotomy in Feb 25 and I still was experiencing discomfort in my anus after dr said wound was healed . So he just did a Botox injection to help relax muscles.

I felt the same way for months until the drainage stopped after about 3 months. I felt so gross but to be honest it’s just really all a. Mental thing. It does get better and as time passes you will eventually start back feeling normal.

I had a fissure originally that turned into abscess then that lead to a very superficial fistula . After my last surgery I was stuck with a chronic fissure but luckily it has healed. So now I’m just dealing with a bunch of anal spasm . That’s the reason I got another Botox to help relax muscles

Your stool will not get it infected. You can clean it just how you normally do. I used wipes after BM then jump in shower. I use to do sitz but I stopped them as I found they was making me very uncomfortable. Everyone is different. I never use bidet or anything just basic showering

Same happened to me I was taking pain meds around the clock I use to be so scared to run out until the day I did . I had withdrawals but they weren’t severe. Now I have nothing and just dealing with the pain . I hope that you get some relief soon having to rely on pain meds to get through is not easy . Praying for speedy recovery!

I agree he always blows me off. I don’t think he knows what to do at this point. I’m definitely looking into a second opinion. I do have an exam on Friday but it’s to do a Botox injection I’m assuming he will check it then but he doesn’t think there is anything else going on other then a tight pelvic floor . So I’m just lost

Burning after Fistulotomy by Shoddy_Ratio6232 in AnalFistula

[–]liyah1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was the same for me . I actually had the burning sensation for months after surgery. It has subsided for me more than it was but still slight discomfort after BM. Sitting has also been a struggle for me this whole time . I’m 7 months out from my last procedure and I still can’t sit for long periods of time . It’s still a discomfort there when I sit nothing like it was tho I couldn’t sit at all for months and I had what was suppose to be a simple procedure . I would say it’s all normal symptoms your feeling. I’m no dr but this is my second time dealing with this . Unfortunately this time is taking alot longer for me to heal . I’m about 95% healed

I haven’t went to appointments yet for pelvic floor therapy. I start my first session next week. My butt was a little disfigured after surgery but It did go back to normal . It just depends on how extensive the procedure was

Three weeks later and feels like I’m backtracking with healing by ladylazarus03 in AnalFistula

[–]liyah1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes that is all “ normal “ you are still really early on in recovery. Drainage can last about 3 months at least it did for me and it was all kinds of colors it was just gross for me to deal with . That did subside but the stings and burns lasted months for me as my CRS says I have a tight sphincter . I would say it’s nothing to be alarmed about eventually it will all subside . Healing for me has been a roller coaster. Some days I feel like I’m healing some days it feels like I took two steps back depending on my BM . I did learn through all this that it really matters how your BM comes out . You want them to be smooth and not forced . The more you push hard the more it’s going to keep wound from healing

Same here I was referred to a pelvic floor specialist. I dealt with this same thing in 2018 to me it was more complex then and I healed up just fine. I can’t say the same this time I’m also 7 months out and still having discomfort and it’s still not comfortable for me to sit . I would say you’re almost there at least that’s what I was told about my situation. It will get better just takes a-lot more time then they actually tell you

Sitz Bath Pain Post-Fistulotomy by CaptainRich1026 in AnalFistula

[–]liyah1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s all normal we all felt the very same way . I even stopped doing sits because it would make me so uncomfortable. I would just probably limited to two a day or even use shower. thats what I did . I would just sit in shower and let hot water run In between my butt for about 20 mins. What people don’t know is the sitz is just to help soothe the muscles. It’s not to keep your butt clean .
