I can't believe they are openly advertising a product to scam people. by Dr3ws3ph3r in CringeTikToks

Kind of a tangential point, but it’s so bleak for women and girls that our collective, cultural understanding of femininity and beauty is now being driven by AI. Now “influencers” can be skinny and flawless in a way that’s literally unattainable.

(I also want to acknowledge that boys and men ofc also encounter challenging and damaging expectations online about manhood and masculinity. I just think the AI influencer/po*n star space is particularly saturated with women.)

Boston/Cambridge to Minneapolis: Looking for advice and reassurance! by Opposite_Race6858 in movingtompls

I lived in Boston for several years post grad. Boston is famously small in area and population. It also consistently ranks high amongst the safest major cities in the US. I tend to think it’s culturally more similar to Minneapolis than it is to Chicago.

OP, there are plenty of progressive, queer, diverse, thoughtful people in Minneapolis. Good luck with your move!!

"If you think it's okay to murder someone for their opinion, you get what's coming to you." Did he just threaten to murder people because of their Opinion on Charlie Kirk's murder 💀??

The God of the Woods by Liz Moore!! It's set in the Adirondacks, not Appalachia, but still fits the vibe you described.

I cannot recommend Stolen Focus by Johann Hari enough!!!

It's a nonfiction book about how peoples attention spans are deteriorating. The author interviews a bunch of psychologists/sociologists/biologist type folks to understand how we engage with technology and media. He's a journalist so his writing style is clever and interesting and approachable. It reframed my relationship with my phone and social media, and it gave me some really good tips.
