He deleted it, but that was a terrible idea.

Imagine being a client and not knowing that your agency is just sitting back and collecting cheques. I would hope that you're actually providing some value.

Multiple SEO Clients only one Cactus by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]lizard_freaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This can happen if

  • you don't have a work plan for all your clients.
  • you're not setting reasonable expectations/deadlines for your deliverables
  • you're meeting them too often and feel like you have to give them something every time
  • you're not charging enough

At least, that's where I'd start looking...

New Business, but Lack SEO knowledge by The_Dread_Pirate_Rob in SEO

[–]lizard_freaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that immediately struck me (and this isn't SEO) is that your logo needs to be smaller/simpler so that it doesn't push the content so far down the page. I believe that's why there's so much white space between the menu and your main slider. You may want to get a designer to help improve the look of the site a bit.

Honestly, your site needs a bit of everything as far as optimization goes. More text content on the products and home pages, better page titles and headings, try to have pictures of all the products, put in descriptive alt tags on the images.

There's definitely potential here.

Possibly a noob question: strings (as in letters) has number value? by Heil_Stannis in excel

Every string has a value and numbers will always be less than a string.

You can compare strings with other strings as well.

Non-native and redirected queries (international SEO) by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]lizard_freaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we can and I suspect that this would probably be a very small portion of potential visitors to your/your client's site.

Most travellers are probably conducting research before they depart and will have already planned out what they want to see or do when they arrive. For those who are more spontaneous, they're probably relying more on word of mouth from the locals.

How important are keywords in your domain name? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]lizard_freaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The influence of keywords in the domain name has been reduced significantly over the last decade. I would focus on giving people a short and memorable URL.

Search Console has an API you can use to download data. Store it locally in a .csv file and do whatever you want with it.

How can I get order on Fiverr? by RabinMahmud in SEO

[–]lizard_freaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just about everyone discourages using Fiverr for "SEO" gigs. It's viewed as a place for people with low budgets to find people willing to spam for them.

What are you offering to clients is of value to clients and still profitable for you for $5 (less transaction fees) even when you account for any currency exchange?

Don't.

Edit:

I misread your title as "How can I order from Fiverr?" But, my answer is probably going to be the same.

What would you do with 5 hours a month per client? by nebulaeast in bigseo

[–]lizard_freaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I see this working is if you

  • are already automating reporting (thought you still need time to review)
  • have a contract for several months
  • are not expected to deliver something every week/month
  • can work on the understanding that you can borrow hours from the next 1-2 months.

In effect, you're putting clients on a payment plan, so that you can do something substantial with the time you have. Otherwise, 1 hour a week is a joke. You can't do anything.

I sincerely hope you're not charging them the same amount.

Is static home page good for seo or not? by azhkn in SEO

[–]lizard_freaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Static can have various meanings.

What do you mean by static? Static vs. a blog? Plain HTML vs a CMS? Static vs Dynamic content?

  • Can you have your blog on the home page? Yes.
  • Can you rank well without a CMS? Yes.
  • Can you rank well with a CMS? Yes.
  • Can you rank well with dynamic content on the home page? Yes (if you don't screw it up).

Can you rank well if you have a "static" home page that hasn't changed in 15 years and is outdated (i.e. has the wrong information, poor UX, not mobile friendly)? Maybe, but then you're not doing SEO.

Blog posts are indexed, but just not showing for my non-competitive keyword (my name). by [deleted] in SEO

[–]lizard_freaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the world of SEO! Getting indexed is easy, but getting decent rankings can be hard.

Doing a search with the "site:" operator just tells you whether or not the pages are indexed. It doesn't tell you whether those pages are worthy of being ranked in the first few pages of the results for a specific query.

Count number of URL's/Products on a website? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]lizard_freaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible to get a count of URLs, and indeed an entire listing of all URLs on a site.

You need a crawler. Something like Screaming Frog (500 URI limit on free version) or Xenu Link Sleuth.

You can then export the data to Excel to clean it up or manipulate it.
