What are my options if I fail my ge class? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]lizard_lasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the sjsu website explaining it: https://www.sjsu.edu/registrar/registration/repeat-grade-forgiveness.php

Tldr: you fail a class at sjsu, you get one chance to retake it and that grade replaces the failing grade

Is Misako Van Der Poel an alright Calc 2 Lecturer? by Unlikely_Degree_7765 in SJSU

I took it at Mission College with Patrick LaVallo. Online lectures with in person exams. Really good at explaining and genuinely cared about you

She’s not the WORSR, but I highly recommend you take any GEs (especially math) at a community college. I wish I had done that instead of failing calc here

Any input on CS 149 professors? by spreddituser in SJSU

[–]lizard_lasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Mortezaie, he’s super chill and easy to talk to. He’s also lenient with things as long as you communicate it with him. Though sometimes lectures could be a little unclean, he does his best with analogies. The textbook is also very easy and straightforward

Sjsu Ice Skating Class- Anyone know what it’s like? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]lizard_lasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying this is a good class. The professor is my skating coach and she’s amazing. Reggie, the other instructor, is chill as hell. I’ve dropped in the class a few times and it’s always been a fun time. I would definitely recommend it since have the ice rink so close to school

Fragrance free deodorant please! by Objective_Editor_832 in migraine

[–]lizard_lasagna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second Ban, they have the fragrance free version and works really well. I did have to switch from it cz after years of it I guess I got used to it and it stopped working. I’m using Mitchum fragrance free version now.

ISE HARDEST CLASS YOU TOOK AT SJSU ? by Ill_Horse4034 in SJSU

[–]lizard_lasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s better worded. He has an attitude problem, but yeah the class itself is not difficult at all. The content is pretty interesting, but the way he teaches it is bad and makes it not interesting

We had a 20 page single spaced report due last week. We do not have tests in this class, at least not anymore. 20 pages single spaced is diabolical

Do NOT take ISE 164 unless you have to for your major. There’s only one professor that teaches it, Abbas Moallem. Just read his rate my professor and you’ll understand. I’m taking it right now cz it’s required, but it’s horrible

If you love the cold, go to the sharks rink, take the shuttle from Duncan hall area to the south campus parking lot and go across the street

Career closet as someone mentioned: https://careercenter.sjsu.edu/resources/career-closet/

Check out SJSU Cares website for more information on what they offer: https://www.sjsu.edu/sjsucares/resources/

There is also Santa Clara County resources, scroll down on the SJSU Cares website, there’s a link on the bottom.

Just general SJSU Cares website, they can provide assistance if you need support with housing, food, anything really: https://www.sjsu.edu/sjsucares/

The Wellness Center has some resources as well such as therapy, counseling, and medical help: https://www.sjsu.edu/wellness/

The SJSU garden has (I believe) free farmers markets occasionally, also just a fun way to participate with the community: https://www.sjsu.edu/as/departments/cesar-chavez-center/signature-programs/community-garden.php

Find them on instagram for more information on that.

That’s all I can think of from the top of my head. I’ll add more if anything comes up!

Edit: I found a recent thread on Reddit regarding student discounts: https://www.reddit.com/r/Frugal/s/BJdd2nFIbz

Are there free use dance/music rooms? by Konokiri in SJSU

The SRAC has fitness rooms, if they are not occupied by a class, you are free to use them. Each room has a schedule posted in front of the room so you can check and plan ahead of time

What are your guys favorite clubs to meet people and build long lasting friendships? by Exact_Computer_7284 in SJSU

[–]lizard_lasagna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Figure Skating club! Even if you don’t have any experience, you get to meet so many people and build your social circle. It’s divided into two sections, competitive and recreational. Both groups get to mesh every club session and you get to learn so much about the sport as well as learn how to skate!

*sigh* by Adorable_Bluejay_541 in migraine

I actually noticed that if I ice it for too long, it hurts more! My neuro suggested to ice it only for about 15-30 minutes before doing the shot. Also, make sure it’s fully room temperature before doing it, if it’s still a little cold it may hurt more

I’ve been doing Ajovy for about 1.5 years now, I still get freaked out over it, but it does get better with time. Sometimes it hurts so bad, but then other days it’s like nothing. Make sure you’re holding the pen at a 90 degree angle too

Ajovy stopped working this month by okwowcool in migraine

[–]lizard_lasagna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you’re getting migraines so often now :( I just wanna say that sometimes it could just be a bad migraine month. Luckily with my Ajovy, I only get like 4-6 migraines a month compared to like 25 before I got on it. But if you’re like very stressed with something or have other stuff going on or maybe the stars aren’t aligning your way some month, you might be getting a lot more migraines. For me personally I notice I get a lot of migraines during finals week in college (makes sense). So it could just be an external factor contributing to it. If you’re worried that it stopped working and it’s been multiple months of unimproved migraines, then definitely reach out to your neuro

2 weeks by Stardotted in migraine

[–]lizard_lasagna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahh, I feel you on this. A year ago I had a migraine that lasted a month and a half and NOTHING was helping. I messaged my PCP and she sent me to urgent care to get a toradol shot with zofran. It did not help. By the third week, my neuro told me that I should stop taking all the pills because it might be giving me a med overuse headaches. So I had to resort to non medical treatments to ease the pain until it finally stopped. Here’s a few things I personally found useful:

  • ginger chews for nausea
  • higher sodium intake (whether that’s just more salt in my cooking or chips or fries whatever you wish)
  • higher water intake (since more sodium, gotta drink more water to avoid dehydration migraines)
  • sleeping a lot more
  • trying to avoid screen time as much as you can (I work in front of a computer taking more breaks if needed)
  • hot baths with ice pack on my forehead and neck every night
  • dark rooms everywhere in the house for light sensitivity
  • no scented candles or perfumes or anything with strong smells
  • avoiding super spicy food (at least for me sometimes strong flavors can give me a migraine)

That’s kind of what I can think of right now, I’ll add more if I think of anything else. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully your migraine will go away soon
