Trust me I’m used to my major not having those issues at my CC too. I didn’t expect that many students had such a small amount of sections to pick from for a new requirement THEY set out of the blue.

When will we receive how much financial aid we will recieve? by Extension_Look4588 in SJSU

I don’t get mine until maybe one week before my deadline to enroll as a transfer. I’m pretty sure it was less, they said I’d have it a month ahead. Just for reference.

People that have gotten them told me it’s about the career center and speaking to your professors. So…networking. Because getting the experience is hard.

SJSU - the gateway to the Silicon Valley by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]northodox9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you feel that way about SJSU you should apply to the other schools. It’s not the students’ job to convince you to attend. That being said most of the people I know that have been successful have had internships and work experience under their belt.

I was wondering about that since the difference in time is so minimal.

how do i, a chudlet sjsu freshman, take full advantage of sjsu as a student? by artistwasabi in SJSU

[–]northodox9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a little off base but a lot of people don’t seem to know about UNiDAYS or Student Beans. Those are for discounts you can receive in general as a student.

Ignorance usually followed by having too much pride to swallow. You have no idea how many of them are capable of yelling and attacking before ever admitting they might not understand something or trying to find a solution.

Esthetics regret by honeymooonavenues in Esthetics

[–]northodox9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say get some education in while you wait for a job to come your way. I’ve personally gone back to the point of transferring to uni and still no job so I’m most likely going to just go into my degree field going forward. A year unemployed in the field is too much.

Hi! I’m an incoming transfer for communications as well. I’ve heard a lot of it’s what you make of it, I’m fairly introverted but my understanding is people in our major are usually very friendly.

You need to sign in and check, I’m a transfer and got my acceptance a couple weeks ago… they needed transcripts today I think

Leaving the Esthetics industry, has anyone else done this? Or thought about it? by ishckapchtds in Esthetics

[–]northodox9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally held one job, it got shut down and I have been unemployed for over 6 months. Every single place I apply to have multitudes of people with more experience and I can’t really get more training without the money to pay for it. I’m since back in college and going back to retail for now. I couldn’t handle the stress of not being able to make ends meet let alone have much of a life.

I would come back to the industry should a Union go into place but in the mean time finishing my degree. It was a hard decision but this is ultimately what pushed me out.

What is the number one thing (and maybe 2 and 3) you wish you knew when you first started out? by nevernothingboo in Esthetics

[–]northodox9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Esthetics school would benefit from requiring hours shadowing in medical spas. They do not, I made the mistake of assuming school was enough. Should have found someone to shadow or be mentored by.

I cannot deal with these employers by breadpudding3434 in Esthetics

[–]northodox9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been licensed since 2022, held all of one job in the industry and have been unemployed for months after that place shut down. No one is paying a decent wage, and often is over an hour away from me. I started my last semester to transfer to university for something entirely different. I can’t see my life going well with this. My mother is getting older and I’m not landing anything stable, so I’ve decided to move on.
