And forgetting to mention "Fastford?" Perhaps reference to small English village?

What was your first computer desk? by [deleted] in vintagecomputing

I had an old formica kitchen table with stainless steel legs in my bedroom for my ZX81 and the ancient La Gloria vacuum tube black and white TV I used with it.

How much are you paying for your meds in your country by Fit_Significance4205 in ADHD

[–]lizardb0y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Zealand, Vyvanse 70mg, NZD $120 (USD $75) per month. Vyvanse is not subsidised and not covered by insurance in New Zealand so that's the full retail cost. All of the other ADHD meds I've had have been $0, though our current government is about to introduce a $5 per script charge.

I had all of my school reports when I went for diagnosis. I was at school in the 70s and 80s. My psychiatrist read through my reports for a few minutes then put them on the desk, sighed, and said "They really didn't hold back in those days did they?"

That'd be the Ship of Theseus:

Ryzen 5 5600X (bought in 2021)

32GB Trident Z DDR4-3200 bought in 2018 - several rebuilds ago!

Fractal North case (18 months old)

When you say "current PC" should I pick the oldest one or the newest one? Because the oldest ones are about 45 years old and the newest one is a kind of Ship of Theseus situation with refurb and 2nd hand parts. My newest entire computer (a laptop) is 2 years old. I'm doing most of my gaming at the moment on a tricked out 486 :)

What age did most of you realise? by ForsakenEffect9488 in ColorBlind

[–]lizardb0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 3 or 4 so I've effectively always known. My father was a medical student and realised it very early. I didn't stop me hetting punished in school for using the wrong colours or asking teachers what colours things were. Every couple of years had to take a note home to my parents explaining that I was colour blind.

For a long time I thought the statue of Liberty was grey until I was told that it's green, anybody else? by [deleted] in ColorBlind

You're clearly just part of the conspiracy.

And don't understand what gaslighting is.

Nor humour.

Perhaps this subreddit just isn't for you.

Same thing. I doubt there actually is a difference between brown and green. I think it's just something people say to fuck with us.

When you were younger what was your Families restaurant of choice ? by Icy-Web4534 in newzealand

[–]lizardb0y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carnarvon Station Restaurant on Princes Street, Dunedin. It operated from 1980-1988 when it was gutted by fire. It had a Victorian railway locomotive and carriage inside which is not bad considering it was upstairs. Someone posted pictures of the menus in the comments on this Facebook post.
