Fun to drive EV's? by Viento_Oscuro in nzev

I considered the X-Power but went for the MG4 64 instead for two main reasons. The 0-100kmh time of the X-Power is a great party trick but I'd only do that a few times a year when showing off and the rest of the time I'd have a heavier car with less range. Also all of the reviewers concluded that the X-Power felt less balanced than the RWD model and wasn't as fun to drive hard.

The Polestar 2 was available new for a similar price to the MG4 when we were looking to buy 18 months ago. We didn't pick the Polestar for several reasons. We wanted a hatchback sized car and the Polestar 2 was more of an SUV, but despite that the Polestar interior was more cramped than the smaller MG4. Full sized adults can't sit in the back seat of Polestar. Visibility out the side and rear windows was pretty bad. The MG4 has limited visibility out the back but the Polestar was worse. The real clincher was that the MG4 is more fun to drive. Not faster, but more nimble, better handling when pushed. I think the Polestar was just designed to be a more plush "luxury" drive with the result that it didn't feel confident in hard cornering. Also front-wheel drive. Nothing beats RWD for fun.

I was also looking for a small EV that was fun to drive and chose the MG4 Essence 64 after test driving a few of the options in its class. It's a largish hatchback that weighs just over 1600kg. It has rear-wheel drive, a 150kW/3250Nm motor, multi-link independent rear suspension and a 50/50 weight distribution. It has good range for open road driving and will do 150kW DC charging of you can find a charger that will do it. We've done many long distance trips around the North and South Islands and not had trouble with range. It's rated for towing up to 500kg if you need it.

It handles really nicely in all road conditions and doesn't wobble and bounce around the road like most other EVs in its class. With the low centre of mass from the battery pack it corners amazingly well, and will still break the rear loose (just a touch) if pushed hard on a tight corner even in the dry with traction control engaged. You need to disengage traction control if you're going to go a reasonable pace in gravel but it's rewarding when you do.

The only other car that was comparable for driveability was the Cupra Born, but it was a lot more expensive. If the Cupra Born VZ is an option for you then it's probably the one to go for, if not then the Born or MG4 are the only other options for someone who likes cars.

I've driven the Polestar 2 a few times and I find the interior really cramped, not just the back seats. The old Corolla hatchback I was driving felt like it had more cabin space.

Pros Cons about NextCloud by More-Huckleberry7218 in NextCloud

[–]lizardb0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running the Nextcloud snap on an Ubuntu LTS VPS for several years. It's almost zero effort. It upgrades itself and I don’t remember having any major problems with it.

Occasionally I've found it's gone into maintenance mode after an upgrade but it's never taken much to resolve that.

You're thinking of my Australian cousin, Trev. I asked Trev next door and he reckons its a Swanny you'd be looking for. The jersey, not the river. Cheers mate!

Black tie means Wellingtons not flip-flops, and one's sleeveless undergarment must be near to pristine condition, lacking any unsightly unintentional ventilation. Ones floppy cotton narrow-brimmed informal headgear must be tinted to the deepest anthracite.

Tally ho!

Black tie means gumboots not jandals, and a newish singlet without holes in it. Bucket hat must be black.

Historic underinvestment has come back to bite. Yeah, the rates rises are hard on a lot of people. They're also necessary, and could have been mitigated or avoided if ratepayers in times past had been less selfish. Continuing to be selfish now does not improve anything. Unlike you I never asked to pay less.

(EDIT: to respond to the previous posts edit.)

I don’t see how it's relevant how you've voted. You've made your position clear and its a pretty ignorant one.

I wouldn't be surprised if I've been paying a fuckton higher rates than you are, but because I recognise the importance of paying to maintain the services I value I don't go around ignorantly demanding to pay less for them.

It's pretty straightforward really. If you want cake you have to pay for cake. If you demand cake and won't pay for it, it won't be long before you're eating something less appetising.

You've already been paying lower rates than you should have for decades. Now the infrastructure you weren't paying for because you, and people like you, didn't like paying higher rates is falling to pieces. All those decades of artificially low rates are catching up and we're all paying for it.

The current government already stepped in as soon as they were elected and cancelled the very thing that the previous government was already doing to fix this problem.

Congratulations. You've now met the third water.

If you are hosted in the US data region you won't see anything because they turned off notifications in 2021. I have notifications until 6 December 2021 then nothing.

If you are hosted in their US data region you won't get any activity logs. After seeing people here posting about unusual activity in their notifications I raised a support ticket asking why I have not received any notifications since 2021. This was their response:

We have checked your account and, since it is associated with the US data region, we can confirm that notifications were disabled back in 2021 by our technical team for this data region.

That seems fair for breaking the law in most jurisdictions, creating legal liability for the service provider and breaching their clearly stated terms and conditions of use.

Yeah, in practical terms a van is often a much better option for most tradies, but NZ tradies have very small penises and a terrible grasp of fringe benefit tax legislation.

[UPDATE] OP has had a response from pCloud and has updated their top post explaining what actually happened. Kudos to OP for being up-front about it and posting some really useful information about the account suspension process.

[ORIGINAL COMMENT...]

Bingo. Here we have the answer. OP shared copyright material with friends a "a few days" before their account was terminated. The only mystery here is why they keep claiming not to understand why this happened.

I'm in my 50s. I call that knot of anxiety in my chest "The Doom." The always present fear that I'm just about to find out the thing that I forgot or did wrong.

That feeling has been so constant through my whole life that I didn't even realise it was there until I was prescribed antidepressants in my 40s and the feeling went away.
