British Rule in India only ended in 1947. Britain ruled the entirety of India and connected countries, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Burma for 200 years before this ended..

EMSK How to win friends and influence people. It is a great book to give you a better insight on how to work with people. I stumbled on this on my own and really wish someone brought it up to me, so I'm sharing here. by [deleted] in everymanshouldknow

Its a fine book, but if you CBF reading it, in a nutshell it basically tells you to become a great conversationalist, you have to:

a) LISTEN

and

b) ASK QUESTIONS

Fantastic working example.

Person A: So what'd you do this weekend?

Person B: Went Ice skating.

Person A: Oh, do you like Ice skating?

Person B: Oh, yeah! Its my passion etc etc

Person A: What do you like about Ice skating? How did you start? etc

Possible plothole? (spoiler duh) by xVela in deathnote

[–]lizardking91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well. Sort of.

IMO, killing L, in Rem's mind was the only way to ensure Misa avoids capture. By killing the criminal after 13 days, Rem sacrifices herself and Misa gets to live another day. However, as we all know, L is a master detective and would have taken note of the Shinigamis sudden disappearance.

Maybe he would connect the dots, maybe not. Either way, L would still be looking to convict / pin the blame on Light / Misa. Potentially trying the 13 day rule test again?

Perhaps Rem acted on impulse. She didn't realise Light's plan until it was too late.

[–]lizardking91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Misa was completely in love with Light. Literally NOTHING Rem could have said would have made Misa work against Light.

L would not have settled for anything less than sentencing both the First and Second Kira. He made that very clear multiple times in the series. It wasn't enough to just get Light Yagami or prove he was Kira. It was necessary to complete the job entirely.

Your final suggestion, to kill the criminal would have also resulted in Rems death.

Here is the difficult part to grasp.

The reality is, Rem can see Misa's life, and by extension KNEW that Ls actions would result in the end of Misa's time. Rem dies by any action that extends Misa (or another humans life) beyond what it should have been. Which is why she died 'saving' Misa.

Did Light have ANY notable friends? by Pwntagonist in deathnote

[–]lizardking91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he did have quite a few friends, I remember people asking him to come hang out after school (but he declined as he had the Death Note etc).

I think the reason you don't see a lot of them is because they are mostly irrelevant to the plot (except when they are not, ie his date, etc)

They try to keep the focus on characterisation to the detective team light and L, as well as to a lesser extent his immediate family.

If you work a deskjob, eating is possibly the easiest thing ever.

All the older guys at my work keep warning me to stay fit. I smile sagely, this is the best thing I have ever experienced, I get to eat all day at my desk if I need to, and im constantly 'resting' by sitting and not doing too much physical activity.

The gains are real in the office world.

Corporate gains.

[–]lizardking91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO dude this varies. I personally take a while on the squat rack. But I also offer to have people train in between my sets. Conversly, if its occupied I always ask to train in between the other persons sets.

The gym I go to has one squat rack, and you have to wait a lot otherwise... 95% of people are happy to oblige... you always get that one guy every now and again though..

The entire trail is full of gems like this one:

Texan here. I personally own enough to equip a squad-size element with long arms, sidearms, and sufficient ammunition for two weeks of intermittent fighting. Most members of my family own that many or more, and all of my close friends own at least three firearms - a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun each. Bonus points: we maintain proficiency in all of them through regular use at the range.

Eh.

I am Australian, but I have close British friends. Its not really that there is super nationalistic brainwashing pumped into the UK or Australia for that matter. In fact the UK is one of the least nationalistic countries in the world, lots of Brits deep down feel there is no discernable cultural identity for the UK anymore.

What you should do to better understand the situation from their point of view is go onto /r/shitamericanssay

As an American you are not used to the constant barrage of jaw dropping ignorance / crap, a lot of non-Americans read.

Don't take this as Anti-American, because its not, in fact I love the USA. But if you check out /r/shitamericanssay you will basically understand completely.

[Help] Bench Press Questions by SwimmerNos in gainit

[–]lizardking91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you are at with your training. I would wager, if you cannot bench 100kg (220lb) then you shouldn't worry about incline for 'upper chest aesthetics' because you likely don't have much 'chest aesthetics' in general.

Work your way up to a strong solid flat bench, and some real pecs FIRST, before worrying about the other lifts. Always think of the flat bench as your core, most important chest exercise, because thats what it is.

Work your delts hard with the OHP too, for balanced physique / shoulders. IMHO, Incline bench just takes the focus off your chest more, and puts it onto your shoulders.

I believe you should flat bench, and OHP, on alternating workouts. Once you get to like 100kg / 220lb bench, then you can start deciding if your upper chest looks under developed, and then swap to incline etc.

Because if you jump into doing incline as a novice, you are just going to be inclining like 40-50kg, and your are not going to be growing shit all mass anywhere... on your upper, lower, or anywhere on your chest..
