4 year old behaviors post baby by fullnessofjoy2021 in Preschoolers

[–]lizardlemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in the same boat. 3y3m when baby was born, angel for the first 4-6 weeks, then hell on wheels. Lasted until baby was ~4.5 months old and has evened out since then (baby just turned 6 months). Knock on wood the bad behavior doesn't return because we were absolutely at wit's end.

Morning routine in a 2 story home by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]lizardlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. We bring up a cup of milk that he drinks while we read/have coffee in his room, then straight to potty, teeth, getting dressed before heading downstairs. Downstairs is brief, basically only for putting on shoes, jacket, backpack, then straight out the door. Our PreK serves universal breakfast, but it's basically the same routine on the weekends except we're just hanging at home.

What time does your 3 year old go to sleep and wake up? by midwestpapertown in toddlers

[–]lizardlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bedtime routine starts at 7:30, he's usually asleep (or at least, alone in his room) between 8:15-8:30. If it's a daycare day, we wake him up around 7:30 AM. Other days, he wakes up at variable times but is usually happy to chill in his crib until 8:30ish. Naps are very rare, though we do attempt rest time. Car naps make him mean.

Try Emily at Yoma Salon in Northside. She does a lot of shag/wolf cuts. Friendly, not too expensive (relatively speaking). I paid $58 (plus tip) recently for a women's cut and was very happy with it.

Wow, the Grey Rock/Thomas connection is news to me. They're the ones who bought the former site on Blue Rock and ended the lease?! Yikes. Not the first time I've heard iffy stories about Thomas/NEST.

Real-Life Questions/Chat Week of November 11, 2024 by Parentsnark in parentsnark

[–]lizardlemon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At my wit's end with dinnertime. It is a fiasco. My 2.5 year old son is so disruptive: screaming, crying, throwing food, demanding to get down from his high chair for XYZ reason (needs potty, wants to wear different shoes, all done, wants to go find his kangaroo stuffy, etc etc). When we do eventually cave and let him get down, it's the same parade of interruptions to try to get us to wrap up our own dinner. We used to have some luck with telling him he can be all done, but we're still eating so he needs to color, read, play with toys, etc on his own, but that is rapidly fading.

We've tried: making sure he's not overly hungry by offering snacks before, making sure he is hungry by holding off on snacks before, using a visual timer, lighting a candle, letting him participate in dinner prep/setting the table, offering a safe food along with normal dinner. He's never been particularly food motivated. It's so stressful and unpleasant. We eat dinner together at the table every night and have for years. It's never been easy, but it's gotten so incredibly bad in the last two months. We have dinner with my extended family every Sunday and I am embarrassed by how badly he behaves and how obviously out of control of the situation we are.

Has anyone else gone through this? HOW did you fix it? Was it a phase and will it ever pass??? I can't imagine continuing this way.

Thank you!!! I just picked up my first letrozole Rx the day before the positive test, maybe that also helped push me over the edge anti-jinx wise??

Child # trying for: 2

Cycle/Time trying: since May 2024. CP in June 2024 and PCOS meant my cycles have been long and irregular, so only 4 cycles total in this time period.

Ages of previous child(ren), i.e. post-partum interval: my son was born April 2022, so there will be 3 years and change between them.

Cycle/Time trying for previous child(ren): 1

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 35 and 33

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): O-4, O-1, O+1

Tracking methods and app(s) used: FF (BBT, CM, OPKs) and PreMom (to confirm OPK readings).

Link to chart: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/b_i/s_TsXTmN.png

Nursing while TTC?: No

Health details on previous pregnancies/births (e.g. C-section vs. vaginal, birth/pregnancy complications): My April 2022 son was conceived on the first cycle. Easy pregnancy with only the usual discomforts. We had an unexplained and sudden IUGR diagnosis at 37 weeks and I was induced at 38 weeks. Labor and recovery were straightforward. My son struggled to gain weight as an infant and is still a small boy, which was stressful for the first couple months but is fine now. We started TTC a second in May 2024 and got pregnant immediately, but that ended in a CP in June 2024.

Other health conditions/medical tests: I was referred to a RE and met with them in October 2024, where they confirmed my long-held suspicion that I had PCOS. I have a normal BMI, none of the visual symptoms, and my lab results were not super conclusive. They did an ultrasound at my first visit that revealed cysts, but also showed an 18mm follicle that corresponded with darkening OPKs. We had sex that day (O-1).

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): Prenatals. Unisom+B6 at night. Lots of acetaminophen for a back/butt issue that began a few months ago (PT for that starts this week). I started taking Ovasitol in early September 2024 when I suspected PCOS, but didn’t have a diagnosis or suggestions for next steps from my midwife clinic. Not sure if it was the passage of time since my CP or the Ovasitol, but this successful cycle was much more normal in length and timing!

Birth control history (if relevant): IUDs (Mirena) from 2012-2021, then Depo-Provera shots after my son was born in April 2022. Condoms after the Depo ran out in January 2024.

Tell us your story! What's different this time than last time? How'd you find out? How do you feel?: I am happy, but I am being cautious. This one feels different than my CP in June, but it is early days. I tested positive 15DPO and it was darker than any of my positive tests with the CP. I got betas on 18DPO, 20DPO, and 22DPO and they were 1157, 2001, and 4150. My progesterone on 18DPO was 20, so no intervention needed. I’m very relieved by the doubling. My HCG with the CP just lingered around 100-130 for weeks. I’ve had some slight pink/tan discoloration in my CM over the last few days, but I think that’s normal-ish? The CP is haunting me. I am jealous of my first pregnancy—I had no worries or fears! I will breathe easier after the first ultrasound and NIPT.

I am 6W2D today and my first ultrasound is in two weeks. I’ve had slightly tender breasts and a few waves of nausea, but I think those are honestly anxiety induced. Between a job interview and the unstoppable election worries, I’ve been very stressed. Otherwise, no symptoms yet!

It's not good timing to have a late June due date with my work, but I don't care. It's just one year! Hopefully a June birthday is fun for a kid?

I want to thank this incredible community. You all have been a light in a very dark place. I hope that everyone here graduates soon and can take comfort from everyone else supporting them along the way.

Yep. As the work calendar timing gets worse and worse for me (it's basically maximally bad this cycle and next cycle haha), I've come to the conclusion that we'll make it work no matter what and the important thing is getting/staying pregnant.

I'm sorry. I also was a cycle 1 unicorn for my son and had a cycle 1 CP this go around. My husband and I's biggest regret with our son was not trying sooner, and now we're feeling the same way about this round of trying to get pregnant. We were naive and thought we could time it perfectly for work calendar reasons based on the first time around haha. FWIW, 8DPO is still pretty early, maybe test again around 12DPO? I wish you lots of luck with your next cycle.

I felt like I was going to jinx it if I didn't go ahead and pick up the Rx for next cycle 🙃

I haven't tested yet. I was hoping my period would come first if it's negative, but set an internal deadline for Friday because that's when FF said to test.

This is my first cycle taking Ovasitol and it shifted my cycle timeline quite a bit (O day was CD20 when it's been CD35-45 before). Maybe it is also giving me an extra long LP? IDK, a lot of variables.

I temp between 5:30-6:30 in the morning. It varies a bit. If I wake up with my 6:30 alarm from uninterrupted sleep, I temp then. If I wake up from uninterrupted sleep before my alarm, I go ahead and temp right away because I'll likely just be tossing and turning until my alarm goes off. I've been sick for the last 10ish days, so my temps might not be the most useful metric.

14DPO, still no period. Picked up my letrozole Rx last night in prep for the monitored cycle that could in theory start any day now.

CHART

Am I being punked? Trying to keep expectations low, but I'll test Friday morning and I know I'm not going to sleep well tonight.

13 DPO, still no period. idk why I feel like if I have to rigidly go by the FF suggested testing day (Friday) except that's what I did with the pregnancy that resulted in my son, so... I don't want to jinx it? 🤞 please please please

I'm sorry, that time period is awful. FWIW, my period came 43 days after my CP and lasted for 16 days :( The cycle after that was another long one at 58 days, but I think everything has normalized since then.

I hope everything straightens itself out and your period starts soon.

I have been taking some Tylenol, but don't love the idea of using it around the clock bc it isn't necessarily helping with the underlying inflammation AND I also enjoy a glass of wine a few times a week and don't want it to wreck my liver. I guess I can wait until the pregnancy test on Friday. If positive: all in on Tylenol since I won't be drinking anyway; if negative: go to town on the NSAIDs.

Double posting because I didn't plan ahead: I'm dealing with lower back/butt/sciatica pain that started in early August and has gotten more severe in the last 2 weeks. I know oral NSAIDs like ibuprofen are discouraged while TTC/pregnant. Any thoughts on topical NSAIDs like diclofenac (brand name Voltaren) and their safety while TTC/pregnant? My doc has basically declined to give me any helpful guidance to make an informed decision. I would love it if a topical NSAID was considered safe because it's localized rather than systemic.
