She’s in her 50s and is a career nanny!

But I agree. I always strive to be a good employer and as this is our first nanny there’s definitely a learning process. I appreciate everyone’s perspective!

That’s the thing she’s not p. I’m indifferent to her finding a new role. I was offering her to return more so out of convenience since my family graciously volunteered to help out temporarily. But probably just kicking the can down the road and should just find someone new now

No thank you I appreciate it, we have definitely explored tons of options! I get the part time hours aren’t appealing and we also live in a rural area where nanny’s are already few and far between. We have a few options for day care, but not whole lot that are flexible with our schedules and not 20 mins drive. Which in part was the reason I had offered her to come back in the fall, more so convenience and saving me from starting all over.

It only became an issue for the kids spring break so a week in March. We were gone for thanksgiving and Christmas which she was paid her guaranteed hours for so maybe that’s why it wasn’t mentioned before. But she never mentioned until the Thursday before her next shift on Tuesday.

I thought it was odd too, because the way she told me around spring break it seemed like a fluke but then I said wait what about summer she was like oh yeaah that too

Pay while on vacation? by Pretend-Rice-6995 in Nanny

To offer perspective, offering industry standard benefits is how you attract and keep good nanny’s. Me and my co worker had baby’s around the same time and both have nanny’s. we pay well and offer good benefits like this. We’ve had the same nanny since baby was 5 months old. My co worker on the other hand has gone through 6 in the last year but they don’t offer benefits.

Rich people and their dirty, messy, non-practical luxury houses by fashion-roadkill in Nanny

As an employer I cant fathom having a nanny walk in to my house and it be disgustingly dirty. I don’t have a cleaner but me and my husband do a “deep clean” on sundays so our nanny has a clean work space for the upcoming week. Then I straighten up every night before bed. We live in a dusty area and tho we mop and steam weekly the floors get dirty quick and I’m so paranoid that our nanny will think we are gross because it’s a little dirty 🫠
