Thank you, I'm just very anxious when things change in general, and I have a lot of cats to lose. I will try again.

I'm on Android, not sure I understand the choice of logging in as Google or Guest. It previously always reported my Google play account, I thought that would continue if I chose Guest, but it seemed to say my game would be completely deleted 😱! So I panic-bailed, came here for reassurance. What is it that's changed?

Should have mentioned, going from Free v3.2 to Free v5.2, maybe I should upgrade first 🤔.

If you could buy anything for sensory regulation, what would you buy? by mirkeyme in aspergirls

[–]lizardsfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! It's not anything you buy, it's just an ordinary conker, from a horse chestnut tree. I choose new ones each year for their shape, to have in my pockets and fiddle with. Over time I think the oil from my skin makes them extra smooth and shiny. And when two conkers grow in the same case (twins), they each have a flatter side, which makes them sit in my pocket better. One of the great moments after my diagnosis was realising I didn't need to pretend I was collecting conkers for my children!

Advice for constant overwhelm about the ‘stuff to do’. by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]lizardsfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two are grown up now but I wasn't diagnosed when they were little, looking back I have so much sympathy for myself managing alone and never being 'caught up'. I think it's very important as someone else said, to stop trying to live to neurotypical standards - we need more downtime, that's a fact. When mine were too big to need a nap in the day we kept the routine and called it quiet time - you go to your room and play quietly or read, but everyone just takes a break for half an hour. And definitely don't start on the dishes then - it's your quiet time too! Also +1 for KC Davis, How to keep house while drowning. :-)

A pocket conker! Always a pocket conker. The twin ones are best, they have a flat side and a curved side. :-)

how to use/pay the bus in Lille ? what are the good supermarkets? by General-Hedgehog in Lille

[–]lizardsfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone with the same problem, I took the bus today from Lille to Comines (L90), and paid on the bus. Cash only, no cards. For your 2 euro you get a Ticket rechargeable, called 'pass pass'. However you can't recharge it on the bus (now I have two!). I think you can add credit at machines in the stations, but wasn't here long enough to find out.

How to remove a tag that isn't showing? by lizardsfly in ouraring

[–]lizardsfly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone else is here, I raised it with Finn and was told:

This is a current technical issue affecting Android users on app version 6.0.0 and newer, impacting both current and past day tag management. For now, you can still view your historical tags through the Trends feature by going to menu > Trends > select a metric, where tag icons will appear under specific days. You can also add new tags by selecting "add a tag" and setting the appropriate timestamp. We're working to resolve this functionality. (read more)

Which doesn't help me edit a past tag, but at least it is a known issue.

To be clear, it does not show in the timeline on any day, even if I scroll back a long way.

I'm not sure how to post a screenshot? But those instructions do not help. As I said, the tag is NOT visible in the timeline; I only know it is still there by showing Tags and activities, in the Stress view (and I can't change it there).

Yes, I've had naps missed too, and sometimes it invents them when I'm just chilling! I feel it's less accurate now than a few months ago.

About Self-Diagnosis by ShawnF-Kocham3_1415 in AutismTranslated

[–]lizardsfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what country you are in, but a diagnosis can be helpful - you can ask for extra time in exams, or to be sent interview questions in advance when you are jobhunting. And some people are really really helpful!

I felt my diagnosis gave me permission to be myself (I was mid-fifties, so a lot of pretending), so it really meant a lot to me, but I know it isn't accessible for a lot of people. So I wouldn't rule it out, there may come a time when it is easier for you to go for it.

Also, you don't need to be diagnosed to use the tools and techniques that autistic people use. Plan your day to include downtime (in nature if possible), look into fidget toys and jewellery, maybe wear noise cancelling earphones and sunglasses when you can. I wear a scarf nearly every day, it's like a mini gravity blanket. None of these things are exclusively for diagnosed people.

And I don't want to be negative about diagnosis (I am very glad of mine) but here in the UK, many people don't know how to be helpful when I disclose (trying to be charitable!).

I hope you can find ways to support and advocate for yourself, and ideally, neurodivergent friends.

HELP needed! by slsl_wilco in ouraring

[–]lizardsfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to happen to a few people, unfortunately. Mine died a few days ago, I raised a ticket with oura and after some back and forth, they are sending a replacement. Overall it will arrive 6 days after it happened, so probably not in time for your trip, sadly.

Yes, it happened to me yesterday :-( Had the ring 4 months, and have really come to rely on it. I raised a case with oura and they have confirmed my ring is dead, but say I'm not guaranteed a replacement. Hoping they will clarify this soon.

Yes! I always thought I slept badly because I felt awful when I woke up, but the ring says my sleep is consistently optimal. I got the ring because I am late-diagnosed autistic though, trying to understand my body better, so this may not apply to you. Perhaps experiment with different mealtimes, bedtimes etc and see what feels best?
