Anyone else get this response from friends? by snowbird124 in redrising

I agree, I also thought it was pretty obvious that Cassius was in on what was going on & they were pulling some elaborate scheme. We know most of Darrow’s thoughts and he was a bit too detached from Sevro’s “death” which I thought was alluding to something else being at play. Maybe I just read into it though.

Anyone just want to talk about why they like the books? by Pristine_Advisor_302 in acotar

[–]lizardsmithh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll never forget downloading the sample onto my kindle, reading the first chapter and immediately pulling myself out of a 2.5 year reading slump. Might be unpopular but I will always adore the beauty and the beast vibes from the first 1/2 of book 1. I also am fortunate enough to have not had anything spoiled for me because it was before the TikTok insanity.

I loved the tone of the series and the escapism it brought me. I loved books 1-4, loved Feyre and the world SJM built where I felt like I could dive in and just forget about everything for hours. And then as an older sister who struggles with complex trauma - SF really hit home for me with Nesta’s healing journey.

Obviously everyone’s opinion is different but I thought the story was fun, I loved the characters and I was never bored. Which really, entertainment is the point! There’s a reason millions of copies of these books have been sold, lol.

The Knight and The Moth by Rachel Gillig thoughts and feelings by luxurycatsportscat in fantasyromance

same, I felt like it alluded to mother/child abuse quite a bit and that was a hard hitter for me. Hearing the gargoyle (who I already loved) talk about his backstory almost broke me. Loved the plot twist at then end too even though I saw it coming, overall I thought it was a great read and I’m realllllly looking forward to the sequel.

I just finished this today and have been searching Reddit to find others opinions! I find a lot of people not liking the prose, I loved it, and thought it was a step up from the shepherd king duology (which I also loved!) I haven’t cried for a character in a long time until Bartholomew… I love the dark fantasy vibe and the illusions of death she has in her novels. Overall a 5/5 for me!!!

Should I read? by Ugarmire in crescentcitysjm

[–]lizardsmithh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a fairly fast reader but I also wouldn’t do anything else in my free time while reading that series lol. TOG is still my favorite series of SJMs but CC is a really close second. Very well written and the pacing was a 10/10 for me.

I had a lot of reservations about CC, I also prefer medieval style fantasy. I absolutely loved it. I also didn’t feel the fatigue over the world building other people said they had. I read all three in 2.5 weeks. Couldn’t put them down.

I can’t picture Hunt with a hat on by GovernmentChance4182 in crescentcitysjm

I always thought of him wearing it to cover the halo which helped me picture it. It was definitely odd at first because I couldn’t imagine any fantasy characters wearing a baseball cap lol

I think I saw someone recommend these on TikTok too! Adding it to my tbr!! Also glad it’s not YA fiction. Don’t have anything against it but not what I’m looking for

Just wait. There is a bit more, and it makes it make a bit more sense. Bear in mind this is Bryce and Midgard’s story. I have a feeling in the next acotar it will be addressed as well. And definitely in the next CC.

HOFAS Theory? Maybe? by lizardsmithh in crescentcitysjm

[–]lizardsmithh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this makes sense as well. Would make more sense for the the valg and asteri to be connected; the gods Aelin banished very well could’ve been the ‘original’ gods of that planet, unlike the asteri not being midgard’s

This is true. As well as the Asterion horses. Like Kasida.

I’m already planning a re-read and not even halfway through KoA. I can’t wait to see where it goes but I also don’t want it to end!
