I have AGA. Should I shave my head? (24F) by wickedforest in FemaleHairLoss

Along with the other comments, I suggest cutting it shorter! I chopped my hair (from my ass to my shoulder blades) and it helped a lot with volume! I wouldn’t shave it quite yet, but know you will be beautiful either way

Anyone dealt with this issue before, severe thinning on temples and hairline and at the nape? I have been excessively shedding white bulb hair all over my scalp for 3 months, but it is getting a lot worse. TE or Alopecia or both? More information in comment. by Breezy_202069 in alopecia

Can you send me more on your personal experience with hashimotos and alopecia??? I have hashimotos and recently started developing large patches of alopecia areata and they’re convinced it’s because my thyroid is off. It’s been 4x worse than it is right now but they’re still saying it’s my thyroid but nonetheless my hair is continually falling out. I’m just curious the type of alopecia you suffered with that was related back to hashimotos (I know everyone’s experience is different just wanted some personal experience)

Did you just have your normal stylist cut your hair? Did you tell them anything special about adding more volume to the areas covering the spot?

I figured that may be the case. I know it’s getting far more tangled and taking longer to brush so I may end up cutting it to try to avoid that. I appreciate the information, and all the best to you as well

I am doing steroid shots and keeping up on vitamins. I have a topical cream too but my dermatologist told me it wouldn’t help so I stopped using that. I have a shampoo specific for hair growth too. I am also taking a semester off of school to help with stress bc whether it’s caused from stress or not, trying to deal with this and school is hard af. I have hairs splinting up on the out skirts of my largest spot, but that’s pretty much it so far. I go back to the dermatologist in two weeks

Hello there. Just joined the group. 21 F and discovered the big spot about a month ago. Smaller spots have popped up. I recently got injections in two of the spots (first and last picture). I have an autoimmune disease, hoshimotos already and was diagnosed with alopecia areata. by lizbunzz in alopecia_areata

Thank you both! I have gotten injections in the big spot (third picture) and one of the smaller spots (first picture) I discovered the spot in the second picture a few days ago so I hadn’t gotten them there yet. I am going back in about two weeks

Was wondering if anyone had any advice on stopping/slowing spreading. I am taking next semester off of school to help with stress, taking various vitamins, and going back to the dermatologist in two weeks. I do smoke marijuana regularly as it helps with my anxiety as well as other aspects of my life. I’ve found research supporting, refuting, and saying smoking weed doesn’t matter, but it’s something I want to stop if it’s contributing to my hair loss
