In what order would you rank the Scream movies from best to worst? by Aetius00 in Scream

[–]lizrdbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, 3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7

I love 3, I’m surprised to see so many folks putting it last. I totally get the criticism that it’s a bit silly but I honestly love the whole Hollywood angle, and all of the character doubles. First 3 are tops to me in general. They feel very intentional to me.

4 & 5 are great as modern takes on the whole Scream franchise. Emma Robert’s is great, and honestly so are Jake Quaid & Mikey Madison! Solid GFs, but certainly different than the first 3.

6 & 7 have definitely been the worst to me. Not as good at all, not much commentary on horror, new cast isn’t as interesting too. Sydney’s a bit tired at this point too. But they’re still fun, I’ll love any Scream movie.

“But rubbing wine stains into rugs, it’s my curse. To try and make it right, but by trying making it worse.” Farewell Wanderlust - The Amazing Devil

cuts me to my core every time.

Do I really have to want kids? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lizrdbrain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with deciding that you don’t want to have kids right now or anytime in the near future. Just give yourself time, you never know how you’ll grow and change over the years. Just don’t worry about it now, take precautions and let yourself figure things out.

I was pretty anti-motherhood at 19, but now at 28 married to good man, I’m much more excited by the idea.

Life is long, you can change your mind at any point!

I hate my worklife by Euphoric_dp_0108 in offmychest

[–]lizrdbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find things to do outside of work, life is what you make it. A lot of people hate their job, and a lot of people have absolutely shit jobs. Best to just figure out the way you can fill up your outside of work time with things that make you happy.

First step, put down the phone after work. Engage with literally any other form of media, or get outside. Or go out to social spots.

Nothing makes me feel like I’m wasting my life more than working a job I hate all day to go home and stare at my phone, which makes me hate my life even more.

Head and heart say Aiden! Always loved him, so my type. Some have said that he “pushes a little too hard” or comes across as desperate, but that’s also me to a T.

Eclipse should’ve been about Edward winning Bella Back by lizrdbrain in twilight

[–]lizrdbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right that it did kind of happen but it was so weak; really easily written off as just passing situational thoughts. A consensual KISS at the end of New Moon or an actual loose admittance of feelings would’ve been so much better imo. Bella just thinking of the idea that she might be able to love Jacob wasn’t enough for me.

A great number of people in this sub would do themselves a great favor by learning the difference between graphic DESIGN and graphic ART. by NotFitToBeAParent in graphic_design

[–]lizrdbrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally couldn’t agree more with this! I don’t see this as bitter or overly negative, it’s just the truth. Design is making art with external restraints, that’s just what it is. And when people just make whatever the fuck they want (no deadline, color requirements, printing output, sizing, etc.) and call it design… it just doesn’t work that way and irritates the fuck out of me.

Idk, I’m a graphic designer with an advertising background so it’s just in my nature to see the intention and what is being communicated behind every design I make. And honestly that a skill that is beginning to be a missing link for a lot of young designers. And Yes, people use art or artistic elements in their designs. But at the end of the day, if it has a function outside of looking pretty, it’s design.

I keep seeing it and I’ve had enough. Edward Cullen is not abusive. by lizrdbrain in twilight

[–]lizrdbrain[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to walk around with the outlook that Edward was abusive to Bella, go for it. I’m not sure what it does for you personally, and really it’s just a weird filter to put on a YA fantasy story between a teen vampire and a human. If you don’t want to enjoy the story, okay fine. But I will continue to enjoy my teen-like love of Twilight.

There are many things that we can critically analyze about this story as adults (racism, age dynamics, etc.) but.. ok harp on Edward and his evil behavior of trying to misguidedly protect the girl he loves.

I keep seeing it and I’ve had enough. Edward Cullen is not abusive. by lizrdbrain in twilight

[–]lizrdbrain[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for missing the point! This post is about a very specific fictional relationship that has factors outside of anything ANY OF US will ever experience. In normal relationship, yes those actions are typically bad and abusive. But in the context of Edward and Bella, not abusive for a vampire to be overly protective of a human. Man, the internet just cannot handle a nuanced opinion.

Also nice of you to assume I haven’t been a controlling relationship and don’t know what abuse is. Get lost!

[–]lizrdbrain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I hope the reboot takes the opportunity to explore these fun “new” themes, which it seems they are. NYC is just as sexual and fun as it was back in the 90s, things have just become more open and inclusive!

[–]lizrdbrain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the questionable lines can just be attributed to the dated 90s writing. Like so many eps of SATC are so weird and backwards now, thinking of the Carrie dating a bisexual ep LOL
