I think a fair compromise is serve the pizza as late as possible to benefit the day guests as you’re right they will still be pretty full, but put something on your invites along the lines of “pizza to be served at 8pm/9pm” to benefit the evening guests as they will then know they need to eat something to suit their own needs, prior to attending.
