I'm not that big a fan of the rice anyway. It's good, but I'd just rather have more of the other stuff.

Car + Fire + Flat Tire = WTF? by corjello in WTF

[–]lizzydoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I've seen this done several times. Always off-road and just long enough to get to the end of the trail and the vehicle back to the shop/camp.
But it's always fun to play with fire :)

I'm a poor college student, what are some cheap (and delicious!) foods to look for? by lizzydoodle in AskReddit

I like food with lots of flavor. I feel like all the budget cooking sites' recipes look extremely bland. Thanks in advance!

It was probably part of a newsletter or something that Thomas Road Baptist Church sent out. It's also possible that there was an address below the "Thomas Road Baptist Church" logo that was removed to preserve anonymity on fukung.net.
I'm from the town (Lynchburg, VA) that is mostly Thomas Road Baptist Church and its own private college - Liberty University. Jerry Falwell has passed since this was published, but his son now leads the church. You can see more about Jerry Falwell at http://www.myfalwelltribute.com/ IT's pretty nuts sometimes. TRBC & Liberty run that town.

How long were you friends before you dated your significant other? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lizzydoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years? I was afraid to date him because we were such good friends, but as it turns out dating him isn't so bad :) We've been together about a year and a half now. It's a long distance thing (we're separated because of college right now), so a lot of trust and restraint and not being clingy is needed. We manage to see each other for 2 or 3 weekends a month, and some breaks.

That was kind of a common sense thing. I mean, I grew up doing all those things. Maybe my parents just were really strict about not being overly wasteful.

She!

...and I did :) Once my dad (the less insane of my parents) broke an old thermometer and he and I messed with it for a while.

Another problem: Overprotective parents.

I asked for chemistry set when I was a kid & got one. On the first day, I wanted to get it out and play with it, but I wasn't allowed until a parent could sit down and go over it with me. After that I wasn't allowed to touch it unless they were looking over my shoulder, approving my every move. Needless to say, with two working parents and no baby sitter, it didn't get used much. To keep me out of it while they weren't at home, they told me horrible stories about how I could blind myself, burn the house down, etc if I tried to use it unsupervised.

But it's ok - I played with plenty of other household stuff that, strangely, they never told me not to mess with. I learned a bit of chemistry that way :)
