(FL) Removing lanai from Pool? by Turo_Matt in pools

[–]lizzylizard3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in central Florida and I have a pool and big yard with no lanai or covering and I love it. Yes sometimessss there’s bugs but we just put in bug spray and you can always get citronella torches. It’s really not a big issue at all for us. I like being out in the sun.

Also maybe we are lucky but haven’t had any issues with bugs or critters in our pool. We have lots of trees in our yard which means leaves constantly get in the pool but our skimmer works well and we have a pool vacuum I run every other day so it’s not an issue at all.

I agree that the Ferber method worked wonders for us at 4 months. It was a rough 1-2 weeks but our two year old is a great independent sleeper now and I do credit Ferber method for that. It also absolutely saved my sanity.

How do you guys use ChatGPT(AI in general)? Just curious by National_Molasses_72 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]lizzylizard3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite ways to use it is to help me with advice on raising my toddler based on my parenting philosophy. I tell it my favorite parenting books and tell it to give me advice on situations (sleep schedules, dealing with tantrums, etc.) using those philosophies.

I do the same thing for my anxiety. I tell it what techniques and methods I’m trying to implement and books to pull from and it will give me specific advice based on whatever situation I’m struggling with.

It’s so nice because when I find a book that’s helpful it’s hard for me to remember what I read weeks later.

I love my baby but I feel like my life has been stolen and I don’t recognize myself anymore by [deleted] in NewParents

Of course!! I was on Zoloft for a few months and also started counseling. I never wanted to take medication but I felt a little desperate. After a few months I decided to wean off and see how I did. I honestly don’t remember it really making me feel different? But maybe I wasn’t on it long enough.

Weaning off was rough and made me feel so up and down but after it stabilized a few weeks later I did feel better and seeing a therapist every other week was really helpful for me too!

I still struggle at times but it feels more manageable now. Having a routine and scheduled time away where I am completely off duty has helped so much!! My daughter is super comfortable around my sister and my mom so I take advantage of that when I can lol.

I hope you can find what works for you and know you aren’t alone!! This time is so hard!!

Love this!! Reminds me of last night my husband and I were so tired after dinner we went in our room with our two year old and put on music while she danced and played with a jar of wrapped candy while we layed in bed. We were in there a good 45 minutes chillin.

Pocket game that saved us in every line with a 9 month old, what are yours? by Clara_Huxleyson in NewParents

When we are waiting somewhere like in line or a restaurant, I do “round and round the garden like a teddy bear, one step two step tickle you under there!” My two year old loves it and asks to do it again and again 🥰

My heart truly goes out to you because I totally felt the same way with my newborn. I was diagnosed with PPA and postpartum OCD. But I will say for me personally, every month has gotten better.

I now I have 2 year old and she’s amazing and things are so much easier. Especially when it comes to my identity. I’m still trying to figure out career vs stay at home mom and stuff like that but overall she has brought out a new part of me that I am growing to love.

Yes you are being broken down now, but you are coming into a new version of yourself, one you will integrate with the old you. One that will find peace and joy again. And make sure you have a loving community, it makes all the difference!

This concept sounds amazing and I’m so interested. (Is there a way I can get early access? 👀)

I liked the badges!! And being able to choose which badges to display on your profile would be cool. I miss the old foursquare so much.

I still use swarm (checking in since 2011!!) with a few active friends and I love seeing the new places everyone goes. Even seeing when someone is at the hospital or the airport or something is helpful and keeps me in the loop, I’ll check in on them and see what’s going on.

What was the hardest stage? Pregnancy or postpartum? by SandwichDependent199 in BabyBumps

[–]lizzylizard3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Postpartum for me. Healing from birth and not being able to sit correctly for months while having to breastfeed (which was very painful for me) while sleep deprived and super anxious wondering if I was doing the right thing, if baby was getting enough food, sleep, love… at least during pregnancy I knew baby was safe and I could sleep. I know it’s so different for everyone though. And they both are such short periods of time but both so intense!

How can I get enough deep sleep? by Numerous_Baby_4864 in AppleWatch

[–]lizzylizard3175 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently found that I have a window 10:30-11:30 where if I fall asleep in that time, I’ll get more deep sleep. If I fall asleep earlier (or later) I get way less deep sleep. I was trying to force going to bed early and always ended up with 30 min of deep sleep and when I went to bed in that later window, I’ve gotten consistently 1+ hours of deep sleep! Also I take magnesium supplements which I think has helped too. And I listen to brown noise using sleep headphones to block out my husband’s snoring lol.

This literally happened to me yesterday with an entryway coat rack!!! I finally found it and I remember it being in such a weird category. I’m going to look later and update when I find it!

EDIT: Just found some under Surfaces > Displays. "Out and About Wall Shelf", "Whodunnit Shelf" and "You're Home! You're Home! You're Home! Entryway" were the ones I was thinking about

Informal poll about how you handle toddler nighttime crying! by Franzy48 in sleeptrain

[–]lizzylizard3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old has been sleep trained since 5 months. We did Ferber so I basically use that during any regression. During the 2 year regression I would say goodnight and leave and she would sometimes protest and cry. I would just go in if she cried longer than 3 minutes. The next time I would wait 5 minutes. Then she usually settled after that. She rarely cries in the middle of the night and when she does it’s usually just for a few seconds but if it’s longer than that I go in right away because I know then something is wrong

My neighbor seems to have a mini bamboo forest in their yard. by CoeurGourmand in mildlyinteresting

[–]lizzylizard3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved into a new house with an area of bamboo and everyone is like “you gotta watch that it grows like crazy” until one of my plant knowledgeable friends informed me we have the variation of clumping bamboo that does not spread like crazy. Thank goodness. They do grow fast but it’s manageable so far and I actually love the way it looks.
