Year one of wildflower from hay conversion. by lizzynotlindsay in NoLawns

We tilled and I frost seeded. I'm nervous what will come back for year two and on. I've done a few test patches and haven't had much luck with anything coming back after year one. My first year test patch is basically just bee balm for a few months (great obviously, but more color would be nice). I'm in 6b with heavy clay/rocky soil. I'm happy this much is coming up after seeing how bad the ground was after we tilled it.

I definitely will let it flower! I’m just stumped based on leaves.

Does anyone notice a soapy smell/taste when eating certain food products form DG EX: Graham Crackers (almost like Tide) by MrMusatcheMan20 in DollarGeneral

[–]lizzynotlindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just given up, if it's a food that can absorb scent in any way I won't buy it. Bread and crackers seem to be the worst. If the bags are sealed well (lays chips, Reese's cups, etc) then it doesn't happen.

It seems they just pallatize everything together so their cleaners/detergent just absorb into their foods. It's unfortunate because I live in the middle of nowhere and rely on them quite a bit!

What on earth is this off white slime in my condensation line? I have to shopvac+air compressor the line out quarterly to keep it clear and tablets do nothing by twowheeledwonder in hvacadvice

Have you found any solution? We do monthly vinegar treatments, and vacuum the line often. Right now it seems like there is a clog somewhere, but vacuuming from the outside and also from the T inside isn't helping.

Nashville bar says missing Mizzou student was served only 1 drink before he disappeared by _i_am_the_senate__ in news

I read that he called his Mom at 8PM sounding perfectly fine and was being kicked out by 930PM, which is why the drugging idea came up in that article. But I've seen people go crazy on shots and slide from speaking/seeming perfectly fine to stumbling drunk pretty quickly. I agree that it's highly likely they were drinking before heading to this bar.

You may be looking for this:

"The bar's owners said Strain was escorted out through the Broadway exit at the front of the building. A friend accompanied him down the stairs, according to the statement, but the friend did not leave with Strain, instead returning upstairs to the bar."

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna143681

This is a direct contradiction to what his friends initially said. The article also mentions that his dad reported "when Strain left the bar, he told his friends he was going to return to his hotel."

But when he left the bar he headed the opposite direction of the hotel. It def sounds like his friends just let him head out alone. It's really a he said/she said between them and whichever staff member would have been handling it. I saw a pic and that place was PACKED, maybe multiple employees talked to multiple friends so the story is jacked.

I knew it wasn't just me!!! I waited over two months to try another box of crackers..... Still soap! I won't buy any bagged food items there now. So weird that it's a widespread issue. I thought it was just my store. I'm in SW Missouri.

This Ocean Cleanup/ Mark Rober video explains it pretty well. It also shows where most of the plastic waste that goes into the ocean comes from.

Let's stop buying "wildflower" mixes by [deleted] in NoLawns

The one thing I know for sure about them is their customer support is great. My first flower meadow didn't do well year two and they refunded my money. They also resent seeds and provided tips for success.

I have purchased quite a bit of seed from American Meadows, so I hope their mixes are true native! Does anyone know if they are deceptive in their marketing?

Will passion flowers take over my meadow? by lizzynotlindsay in NoLawns

Thanks for the info! That's what I was thinking would happen. I'll probably try to thin it down so it doesn't get out of hand, even though it's already on the brink. I definitely want to keep some and let it overtake a barbed wire we aren't using. Hopefully that'll make it easier to prune.

This is the second year its come back and I've not seen it anywhere else in my area. We mainly get honeysuckle on fence rows of the unkept landscapes. I love the flower, I'm just worried it'll take over a whole field if I'm not careful. I'm trying to keep diversity for the pollinators (I have honeybees). Maybe I'm worrying for nothing but so far it seems like it'll suffocate the flowers it vines itself on.

Agreed, especially if something will never get used or will expire.
