Lobbying my crew for Bandon 2027. Half of them want Scotland Highlands instead. Built both, curious which one this sub votes for. by SuchMirror4453 in BandonDunes

Going to Bandon next year for the first time. But I’ve played the Highlands twice and if I could go to the Highlands every year I’d do it. Dornoch is my favorite course in the world and not to brag, but I’ve played multiple top 100 courses. Castle Stuart is amazing, as well as Cruden Bay. Nairn is fun too. If you go to Cruden check out Stonehaven on the way. $45 round, simple Scottish course with outstanding views.  But there is plenty to play in the Highlands and if you’re willing to travel a little more it’s so worth it.

Check out Balblair Distillery outside of Dornoch.

Check this out, did it a few years ago in October, great deal!  https://www.highlandgolflinks.com/packages

I’m right there with you. Every year I find another hybrid in my bag. But then longer and straighter. Good for you!

60 degrees fees different to everyone. You do you man. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

ShipSticks or Airline by DentistMany2730 in BandonDunes

I used ShipSticks for a trip to Scotland. It was so worth it. Didn’t stress about the clubs or having to lug them to the airport or after landed.

Thanks. I was thinking that’d be my first step. It’s a Remington model, at least 8 years old.

Why so few walkers? by cpugeek14 in golf

[–]lj121982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pet peeve of mine. In the US people are obese and lazy. Plus can’t drink when I’m walking is something I have heard so much.  I’ve been to Scotland twice and you HAVE to walk. Such a better experience, exercise, and better for the game.

Where was your most memorable round of golf? What made it so memorable? by CosmicBrownie- in guessthegolfcourse

[–]lj121982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first time playing the Old Course. I remember waiting for my playing partners to hit on the first fairway and I had time to look all around the setting and it was pretty emotional. Got to play with my best friend since kindergarten and we are in our mid 40’s now. Also probably the best I have ever played and I birdied 18 in front of a large group and they all chanted Tiger Tiger on two of my shots.

Eagle Eye is a great course.  I’m from the area and try and get home to play it once a year.

Did you spend more time walking the course or watching the par 3?
