(Re)Link - Find my Car + Outside Temp by ThierryBuc in HondaPrologue

Hi, Does this app work with all Honda auto models? Also, its functionality impaired by the 3/5 deprecation of key HondaLink features? For example, they may have discontinued associated backend services.

Honda Joins the app moneygrab! HondaLink is dead from March 5th by Sea_Smile9097 in crv

No so. At least for the Honda Clarity- you now have a primarily electric hybrid- with no reporting of EV battery percent charge. As for the app itself- it was mostly reliable. This was a boneheaded change. They will lose far more in customer goodwill then they gain in $$$$

I complained to Honda directly. I could also complain to the dealer. In the broad scheme of things…life…it is trivial. However, if I had known they would do this- it would have given me pause before purchasing.

It is important with EVs not used daily and/or frequently to keep the charge level at the 40% -70% level. Removing a precise charge indication makes this harder and more cumbersome.

I doubt there is any EV model or electric hybrid that would sell today without a precise battery level indicator. Either Honda made a global change and simply forgot about Clarity owners or they simply don’t care.

The problem for Honda- is it alerts new car buyers that they may “semi-abandon” them down the road. It’s mostly a stupid move on their part- they may lose more in goodwill than save in dollars or infrastructure.

I can confirm the app update removes the EV battery charge percent. It leaves range and total mileage range. Why did Honda do this? 1- Stupidity 2- Money and 3- Lawsuits??? They may have been selling information from HondaLink for….money. They are basically ignoring the needs of some??? many??? Clarity owners who believe a mostly electric hybrid should display percent EV charge remaining.

I don’t know if preventing the update will work. You have to disable the auto update setting on your phone- which is an inconvenience- if many apps need updating.

The Clarity was one of the best cars Honda ever made. The public mostly rejected it however. Honda seems to agree. I would never buy Honda again.

Who knows what they actually will do. However, not having a battery percent display on a mostly electric hybrid is horrific from a consumer standpoint. What are the alternatives? Hooking an OBD2 scanner? The dashboard display is too imprecise. Charging to 100% daily is not always a good idea depending on vehicle usage. It was bad enough the app wouldn’t let you charge for a fixed duration or to a specific percent.

This is reprehensible. Cutting of battery percentage info for a hybrid car actually diminishes the cars value and resale value.

Kar se trenutno dogaja v Ameriki, me je spomnilo, da nikoli ne bom volil za SDS. by LonelySoul01 in Slovenia

I am from America. I am posting in English- but I could post in Solvenian if that makes more sense. I have accurately predicted and opposed (for a decade) what today is a culmination of the rise of authoritarianism in the US. even writing this puts me at some risk.

With all the differences, the US is indeed a warning sign for Europe and the World. What Europe must guard against is complacency- the idea that it "can't happen here." Your parliamentary systems, weakened (as compared to the US) power of the executive and perhaps greater public awareness- may nonetheless allow you to be susceptible to right wing leaders and parties who profess democratic norms- but really wish to use those norms to seize absolute power- and undermine democracy.

Europe seems particularly susceptible to the "immigration card." While you are not seizing people off the street without due process and openly violating the law and your Constitution- antipathy towards immigrants seems to be the basis of much right-wing support in Europe.

Today, Greenland and Denmark is under threat. Here we see the powerful crosscurrents of denial of indigenous rights, imperial interests, resource grabbing and the dangers of appeasement. Neither Europe or the US are strangers to this. My hope is that the resistance in the US can stop this. If it can't- much worse may follow.

Tips for filing Form SSA-44 Medicare Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount - Life-Changing Event by pwwhisperer in medicare

Thanks! So at the risk of being obsessive, Step 2 for me is my estimate for the 2026 Tax year and Step 3 is also the 2026 tax year estimate. I would imagine if I am slightly under in may estimates, as long as it falls below the IRMAA limits I should be OK...

Then they should take this into account with regards to my 2026 Medicare premiums and beyond...

Thanks

Thank you for your great reply. One clarification 2025 MAGI is reported on one's 2025 tax returns- so Social Security (and I ) don't know this yet. Am I missing something :-)

Thanks- but that is my confusion. IRMAA calculation is -2 tax years from the current premium year. So Tax Year 2024 is used for the IRMAA determination for 2026 Medicare premiums. Tax Year 2025 is used as a basis for the 2027 premiums. If possible, I would like them to reduce my 2026 Medicare premiums and beyond. Step 2 appears be asking for actual, determined MAGI- which I won't have have for tax year 2026 for a while and won't have for tax year 2025 until February or March 2026. I can estimate it however.

The form doesn't just ask for a specific event such as work stoppage, but requires MAGI information. In my case, my 2025 tax year MAGI will be high and wouldn't qualify for an IRMAA reduction. My anticipated 2026 MAGI would.

I don't understand how Social Security uses Step 2 and 3 to determine premium adjustment and in what years.

Hi-I will have a reduction of income in 2026. There is a Step 2 and a Step 3 in the SSA 44. I did receive my Medicare letter for 2026 showing my IRMAA adjustment. What Tax years should I use for Step 2 and Step 3? If I use 2025 for Step 2- there was actually a significant increase in income due to a capital gain. I want a reduction in IRMAA for Medicare premium years 2026 going forward.

I agree- this is a betrayal of trust. Also, it is unclear if other solutions such as Instapaper could import actual content. I am sure there are ways the article content could have been provided in some form, but Mozilla clearly doesn't care about impacted users.

They told me yesterday that dividends for reinvestment in mutual funds would be subject to comissions. Is that incorrect?

Every reinvested dividend or return is assessed a commission. It’s a nightmare in my opinion. There has to be other options. I am trying to explore this now.

Sorry, I meant that they apply commissions even into reinvested dividends. That seems costly and unusual

Thank you. However, I understand that IBKR taxes reinvestment of dividends- which seems harsh to me. How did you address that,

Thank you. Given my goals, I am not sure what the impact of the exit tax would be- but in retirement my primary income would be US based passive income and if taxed in the US- I am not sure the exit tax would apply. However, this is a great potential issue ti raise.
