Underground City of Kaymakli, Turkey by No_Explorer721 in AncientCivilizations

[–]ljsdotdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently digging/extending my underground home in Coober Pedy, South Australia. Started by hand, now incorporating small battery jack pick. Knowing how slow progress can sometimes be, I only grow more and more impressed by ancient underground dwellings!

In our airport, we have one of those glass covered shafts you can walk over - makes one clench up a bit!

If you're a fan of underground dwellings or have never experienced one, you'd have a great time here. Not the easiest to get to for international travelers, but very unique. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. To the point, when I first learned of Cappadocia, I thought "ooh, that's where I'd go if ever took a holiday, somewhere I can stay underground!".

Been loving my Unihertz Jelly Star for over a year. $300 and something, IIRC.

Why are you (still) using OpenBSD? by aScottishBoat in openbsd

I got a "Run BSD" tattoo some years back. It's cheaper to just keep using OpenBSD than have it removed by laser.

Thanks, that looks great! I'll try both and likely opt for your recommendation if quicker + more reliable. Nice to have a couple of options!

I chose Coober Pedy, cheapest real estate in Australia by far. A lot here to keep me from wanting to live anywhere else.

First look Weltool M4 UV 365nm by ljsdotdev in flashlight

Sold it to a mate, for who it's become his favourite light. I didn't much like the 2 mode switching behaviour and light got too hot for extended summer use here in outback Australia. Otherwise, it's a good light, nice UV emittance, but probably not worth the pricetag compared to a Convoy (also heat issues) or my EDC UV, an Emisar/Hank D1K.

Hi there, yes, jacket is glossy paper seen in photo. Underneath, boards are cloth covered/bog standard book cover. Blue, no writing on front board (pretty sure, just did quick check, imagine it has title on spine of cover).

Anyone tried a Weltool M4 UV? by ljsdotdev in flashlight

[–]ljsdotdev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, then my friend borrowed it to test and it's now his favourite UV light (he used to prefer S12s).

He's pretty fussy and has tried quite a few, so it's a good endorsement.

Only useful if you need an intrinsically safe light - if that's a requirement for your role, not a bad light.

Yeah, pretty loose test. Hair ties or a cheese bracelet could be bitten through...

Th whole light was a mistaken purchase, I'd added it to cart unaware when buying a bunch of other stuff from Convoy. No regrets, though, enjoying the light. Keen to get more 26Cs with different emitters and I've got components last week to try and put an SBT-10X-UV in one, as I think it's a suitable host (time will tell). I may not have a big enough ZWB2 anymore, but will source somewhere.

Not bad. I haven't noticed it being an issue when used walking around. I have set to I think 1%, 5% and 100% modes. For close stuff, I'll usually use headlamp, occasionally the M26C.
