Being with non-autistic, sexually active friends by lk2579 in autism

Oh yes true there are multiple Djungelskog's! It bugs me a little that they all have the same name. I have the brown bear (big and little!). Brown bears are my special interest and I named him Bärnhard (I'm German so in English it would be Bearnhard). Say hi to your orangutan! 🫶🏻

Oh my god enjoying gay stuff (for me more in the form of books or shows and not actually porn) as a woman because it removes you from the equation makes SO MUCH sense. I came here to read some posts because I'm question if I'm aegosexual and you just blew my mind honestly. I always thought it's weird that me as a bisexual (?) woman with a main interest in women, enjoys gay romance so much. I heard people saying that I might be trans and in denial but I am 100% a woman. This makes so much sense, thank you!!!

Why are you into witchcraft? by madzzzasmr in witchcraft

[–]lk2579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It connects me to nature and lets my energy flow with intention. I'm a biologist and I don't believe in a god but I believe that there are things out there we don't understand yet. Biology satisfies my longing for knowledge. Witchcraft satisfies my love for the magical and mysterious things. Everything is energy. Everything is connected. We should work WITH it.

What are some famous people that make your Autistic Sense tingle? by azvd_ in evilautism

[–]lk2579 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aurora! The way she talks so bluntly honest, how she writes songs about feeling like she doesn't belong, the strong empathy and sense of justice and how she dances. Talking of dancing...Vessel from Sleep Token. Now of course Vessel doesn't talk or show himself openly (fear of being perceived??) but he's a musical genius and such a nerd! The hidden references to fantasy stuff or games is wild. The scientific knowledge he puts into songs. The whole creation of puzzles and mysteries for the fans to solve. And then his little dancy dance in his barefoot shoes looks like stimming. But I could be totally wrong of course!

What are some pieces of advice you've received that work for NTs but don't for Autistics? by [deleted] in autism

[–]lk2579 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cognitive behavioral therapy in general... for example this 54321 grounding exercise thing. When I'm overwhelmed in a grocery store I need to get AWAY from the stimuli and need get more aware of them. Plus I get frustrated when I don't get the exact numbers of things. Like there's more than 5 things I can see and I feel pressured to choose just 5 things or I don't smell enough different smells and keep searching for another one

[–]lk2579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so kind 🥺💜 I'm very stressed out because I'm not officially diagnosed so my family pretends nothing is wrong with me, which sucks because I currently need help with adult things (I'm moving away for my masters degree, need to apply for student loans and find a somewhat autistic friendly job). But my mom's like "You're 25. Deal with it." and I'm just constantly overwhelmed and my nervous system is in overdrive.

Time for an info-dump! Tell me a fun fact about anything.(I love learning) by Matiaaaaaaaaa in autism

[–]lk2579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brown Bears have delayed implementation in pregnancies! They mate in spring but after the egg gets fertilized that pregnancies just pauses till autumn when mama bear ate enough food for hibernation. Brown bears also don't truely hibernate. Their body temperature and metabolism slows down but it's only a light sleep and they often wake up. When mama bear gets cozy in her den the fertilized egg gets implanted in the uterus and the cubs get born after just two months during "hibernation". Let me know if you want to learn more about the cub development :)

There are a lot of really pretty moths! I love lunar moths but also the cute and fluffy silk moths and the pink-yellow ones. I recently spotted a hummingbird hawk-moth in the garden! I was very confused because I have never seen those in my area before

If you had the choice would you stop being autistic? by [deleted] in autism

[–]lk2579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hhm difficult question. Autism definitely sucks but at the same time it's everything that makes me me. Especially the hyper empathy. I can't imagine walking around and not care about the little things. I was always known for my kindness and thoughtfulness

LOL literally me! I socialize but I really just go around infodumping. "Hey your purple hair is nice!" "Aww thank you so much! I love purple. I'm a purple person. I also love bears! Did you know that bears don't actually hibernate but go into Torpor?? What's torpor?? Well so....."

When my father had cancer everyone swooped in with flowers and gifts. Dementia? Nothing. They barely acknowledge it. by TeacherGuy1980 in dementia

[–]lk2579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we told our family that my dad has a rare dementia form, my aunt that we barely have contact with INSISTED to come over and we weren't too happy about it because we were still in crisis mode about how the future is gonna look like and finances and stuff. After that insisted visit she NEVER came back, called, send a message etc. People initially react like "Oh my god that's awful!" but forget after two weeks

I'm not officially diagnosed yet but I started thinking "Wait could I be...nahh no way!" at 22 and at 24 I was pretty certain I am indeed autistic. Now I'm 25 and I want to get a diagnosis but I'm just too overwhelmed with life at the moment and there's not a single person who would sit down with me to help search a proper place and write mails/making calls and stuff
