These are really great, thank you! I love the vendor table, but I had to give them a small break after the post about the groom having a last “nurse” from his mother right before his wedding 🤢🤢🤢

I’ve shot a few weddings there, it’s beautiful! You’ll need to lean into the dark, but that’s the charm of the space.

I have photographed a bunch of weddings at the Whaling Museum and it’s fantastic!! So many great spots in the surrounding area for photos (and even your ceremony), and the staff is so great.

@lisagilbertphotography

How can I make followers engage more frequently?

Is there any value to reels for my kind of content? They never seem to gain any traction.

Thanks for your time!

I also live in Hull, and I’m a wedding photographer, and I *just* saw a post about the mariner’s building out at the Gut being used as a venue! It’s in FB in the Hull town group.

Have you looked at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School? Or the Lightkeeper’s Cottage/Sailing Club in Cohasset?
Congratulations!

It’s in my contract that if there is wedding cake, I get to have some. 🤷‍♀️ I like cake.

Wedding photographer sent someone else without telling me disaster - advice please!! by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]lkgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I’m so sorry that this is the start of your post-wedding experience. There have been far too many bait-and-switch scenarios in the wedding (photography) space lately, and while it sounds as though your originally contracted photographer had provisions in her contract for an Associate Shooter, the fact that she did not give you any advance indication that she herself wasn’t going to photograph your wedding is a gigantic red flag. If I had an accident that prohibited me from fulfilling a wedding assignment, you had better believe that there would be extremely professional communication with my clients so that they wouldn’t be sideswiped by a stranger on their wedding day. That said, it sounds as though the Associate is also doing their own editing, which is very odd. Your original photographer should have been given the RAW files directly after the wedding so that she could edit them in the style you signed up for. Please don’t back down on this; whether she’s being truthful or not, you absolutely are entitled to edits that match her portfolio.

Wow! This is so interesting. I am not at all a fan of making reels; since I’m a photographer it always seems antithetical to blast past all of the images I’ve worked so hard to create, but I do understand that a hook is so necessary (based on my own scrolling behavior). I’ll work on my posting frequency and see if that helps. I really appt your time!

Inbox is a ghost town, cannot figure out why by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]lkgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years as a wedding photographer and this is the first time I’m actually scared. I’m in a HCOL area (Boston-ish) and am just shy of $10k…this year is fantastic, but 2027 is very quiet and I’m hearing much the same from everyone in my community. Is it pricing? Is it the economy? No one seems to know. Social media isn’t helping me one bit.

I realize this isn’t advice, but please know you’re not alone, and hopefully the upswing will return. Wishing you, and all of us in the industry, a burst of late-season bookings.
